Per a post on Airliners.Net and a search in the Finnair Cargo schedule it appears that Finnair Cargo will be starting a 1 weekly cargo flight operated by the MD-11F between Helsinki and JFK. The flight will operate on Fridays and will start on November 19.

AY8866 JFK-HEL 8:00pm M11F

Also a reminder that tomorrow Finnair will be operating the A340-300 on AY6/AY7 instead of the regular A330-300.

Thanks Gordon. Are those the flight numbers? I love the MD-11 Cargo... looks a lot like the Lufthansa Cargo MD-11's as far as the logo and the simple graphics. Makes for tough exposures LOL.
The 343 track for tomorrow (http://flightaware.com/live/flight/FIN5/history/20101111/1210Z/EFHK/KJFK)
BTW, excellent images in your gallery :-)

I just noticed I have a 4pm meeting tomorrow and Friday too DARN!!!
and no more days off until 2011 ... I have to find a way to get out there on Friday afternoon lol. Do they often replace the A330 for a A343?

Thank you, Manny.
Those are indeed the flight numbers that will be used for the cargo flight. Unfortunately the A340-300 is a one-off sub and I believe this is actually the first time that JFK will see the Finnair A340-300.

Excellent! I'll try to catch the A340 tomorrow and the MD-11F next week.

Cheater... it takes me 1.5 hours in traffic from upper Manhattan to Panera, probably another 20 minutes to Bayswater/THe Mounds LOL. You can do this in like what, 10 minutes? hahahahaha
OK, maybe I'll see you out there if I am able to get away.

It looks like it could be an EXTRA plane? the other A330 is still in the schedule for the same time slot (or thereabouts)

Here are two not so great shots of the A340 as they were shot in almost total darkness (photographically speaking of course)

For those who care about this sort of thing, the light was bad. Above shot was 1/200sec @ f/4 ISO 3200. It has a bit of motion blur and it is not critically sharp. But I'll take it LOL. 400mm f/2.8 would have come in very handy for these sort of conditions.
