STS-133 "Discovery" is scheduled to launch Wed at 3:52 PM, its FINAL mission. Its maiden voyage was in Aug 1984 and has since flown 38 missions.

I've seen 3 launches in person from the area and pretty much every launch visible from Sarasota. I will be there for this last launch in fact as long as the schedule stands to what it currently is. I'm going to watch it from the roof of my hotel in Orlando as long as they maintain the current schedule. Sadly, I have no room to pack my SLR for this trip. I will be down there for the very last one though as well and I WILL have a camera with me for that one. My first in person shuttle launch was from the roof of the Space Camp dorms in 1999.

They are bringing a robot on board. Mmmmm, how long before Terminator or BSG (Cylons) becomes reality? :wink:

Now set to go Thursday at 3:29PM or so but stay tuned. Things could change.

Delayed again today. Now set for tomorrow at 3:04PM but weather as of now only giving them a 60% chance to launch. They will re-evaluate at 5AM Friday morning.

It was delayed today, and rescheduled for Nov 30th, at 4:05am. I happen to be in Orlando on that day, and would love nothing more then to see this. Any tips or advice?

I had tickets for the Wed launch, but now they say Nov 30th the earliest. My tickets are still good so I hope to go back when the countdown starts again. This was supposed to be the last one but Congress gave them the OK for one more. The shuttle Discovery will be headed to the Smithsonian after the flight. Lets go Duscovery!!

Well if you don't have a ticket, I would recommend going to Parrish Park in Titusville, but you can pretty much watch a launch from anywhere on the Central Florida Coast.

Thanks. I am hoping due to a 4:05 am launch time it wont be as crowded as normal.

Not likely. The last launch I went to was at 2AM. Its a shuttle launch, Lots of people will be there.
