One World Trade (Freedom Tower)

I have always been interested in the building of new structures as I have seen buildings I know and would always think...I wish I had those historic shots of the construction. No building I think will ever be more important to New Yorkers. It is in our heart, and part of our soul. It was taken away and for the Beauty of simplistic design or the sadness of it now being built alone, it is ours.

I hope that others will continue to post pictures here to make a very long thread of buildings that I watched with my own eyes fall. The building that changed the face of the world as no other building started multiple wars.

The Begining

OK here are a few VERY OLD ones ... had I known my beloved twin towers would come down, I certainly would have taken more :-( I have many more in shoe boxes waiting to be scanned. What can I say, it breaks my hear. They were a part of my life as I would go in to them or through them at least once a week!

It's funny to me that when I go to Stony Brook Medical Center, 20 stories looks huge to me, yet when I see what 43 stories looks like in Manhattan, it looks pale in comparison.

Fred, we have some shots from Ellis during the Red Bull Air Race. I think it was only in the 20's then.


I can't wait for that thing to be towering above downtown again!

Great Classic photos of the twins.... I did not see them until now as I was going to post about the reflecting pools. They are being filled for testing and I am not sure it they will leave it with water or not. It was mentioned that they are the largest man made waterfalls in North America.

I always thought the Twin Towers were fascinating and I hate it that I never got a chance to see them in person. I can't even imagine how the size and grandeur would look in person.

Does anyone have any shots of the Sky Lobbies or the outside stairs that led to the North Tower (I think)? I don't think I've ever seen any pictures of them.

Jeremy and I took a quick trip down to WTC...it's just amazing to look up at what was fairly recently a hole in the ground and see a structure surpassing what we once had.
