It's not everyday you get to see or hear this configuration. I've only once been on a plane that landed 13 but it was the River Visual Approach.

no, localizer. sandwich effect due to kennedy and teterboro airspace issues.

For those who have not heard the River Visual to 13 at LGA has been officially discontinued, leaving only the ILS as was used last night, or the now more common and the pretty damn cool ILS 22 circle to land 13 as the hard left turn on final is much tighter and sharper than the Expressway visual to 31 !

I once saw the Rwy 22 Appr circle to Rwy 13 for landing while at Ashe Stadium. It was cool to watch and I never saw it before. The visibility was good so the entire operation was probably visual; no ILS. I wasn't aware that they discontinued the River Visual Approach to Rwy 13.

Interesting news about the River Visual 13. Why was River Visual discontinued? If I remember correctly this was the most common approach into 13 at one point. It looks like it would be more efficient to use that then to go all the way to do the ILS 22 and circle back.
