Here are a few from Saturday night - I took a ride to Staten Island and shot from the 9/11 memorial there. We arrived to find a memorial service just starting - speakers included Mayor Bloomberg, Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro, and Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano.

This ceremonial fire bell was rung following the reading of names of Staten Island victims.

Nice series of images. I especially like the last image with the tribute of lights. I was at ground zero on the 10th and watched as the workers prepared for the events of 9-11.

It's funny - we left right around 11pm, and coming over the VZ Bridge, I couldn't figure out why we couldn't see the lights. I came across that story while I was editing photos at 2am...

didn't the original towers have very high incidents of birds flying into the towers aswell?

They shut the lights down again at 1am and 2am. I had no idea what was going on.

Thanks for sharing. One day, I will learn how to upload my photos onto the site. I was right under the lights at the Battery Park Garage. Security won't let us visit the roof to view the searchlights. I go each year. The lights used to be located on Vesey Street next to the WFC but that area was turned into a parking lot. I guess that is more important to the owners of the lot since they must pay taxes on the land so we really can't blame them for having the lights move. Technically, the lights are not at Ground Zero.
