With the quotes
"905 Sri Lanka Air Force war victory memorial showing a war trophy. This aircraft was flown by a suicide terrorist with approx. 215 kg of C4 and aiming for the hangers housing the aircraft of the SLAF's No. 10 Fighter Squadron (IAI-KFir C.2,C.7). He was being chased by an AIRCAP aircraft (depicted here by a replica of a IAI- KFIR) in the background. As he approached the base, low and fast in the pitch darkness, the SLAF ground defence shot it up with 12.7 mm fire and it crashed short killing the terrorist."

If this plane was shot down with 473.9 LBS of C4 Loaded into it... How is there anything larger than a dime recovered?

Because the C4 wasn't detonated...

A good man and smart friend tells me the following:

The explanation is that the C4 did not go off when the aircraft crashed probably because the detonator was not triggered. The terrorist has his right hand shot clean off by one round and that probably was the reason the plane crashed. At which point, he flew (with his seat) through the cockpit canopy and was found outside. The aircraft was in remarkably good shape as you can see. As you may be aware, C4 is very stable until triggered hence no explosion.

I quote;"C4 is very stable and insensitive to most physical shocks. Detonation can only be initiated by a combination of extreme heat and a shock wave, as when a detonator inserted into it is fired. C4 cannot be detonated by a gunshot or by dropping it onto a hard surface. It does not explode when lit on fire or exposed to microwave radiation."
