Figured I'd give you guys a head's up as I've decided to make a trip up to the NY and Long Island areas this weekend. May hit up JFK for several hours during the afternoon both on Saturday (the 17th) and Sunday (the 18th). Hope to see some of you guys there!

I'm overdue for a JFK trip... seriously. I don't go spotting as much as I'd like to, mainly because of the tolls and gas (my local airport is N14 and you can only do so much there - though I am allowed to get different angles there if I wanted to, since I know some of the pilots based there). And now I have a working camera (when I was up in December it was malfunctioning but I still managed to get video)!

Made it out to North Woodmere Park (first time there) today (7/18). Because I wasn't a resident I had to pay $5 to enter the park. I only hung around for a couple of hours because it was getting to hot and then they shifted arrivals to 31R. I didn't bump into anyone either. Here are a few:

I got some great video from Saturday as well as on Sunday. I and my friend Dan spent about an hour on Saturday at one location watching arrivals before switching to Inwood Park for 13R departures while we went to Firestone, Inwood Park, and Bayswater over the course of five plus hours.

Had no hassles until we walked into Bayswater, as one park employee tried to tell me that I needed a permit to film in Bayswater. I tried politely that since I wasn't selling any of this video, I didn't need a permit. He tried to stick his ground but gave up about one minute later saying something along the lines of "Don't be surprised if Park Police tell you the same thing I'm telling you." Luckily I didn't have to talk to Park Police...

As far as what I saw, well, I'm usually one to say I make the special schemes stay away. Not the case this time around! Saw the new Pink Delta from afar on Saturday along with several SkyTeam jets. Sunday brought in the Expo 2010 China Eastern, SkyTeam A330 from Aeroflot, OneWorld AA 757 (did see the 767 but didn't get it on video), a NWA CRJ, a Vision Airways 767, Southern Air 747, among others...

Videos to come real soon!

Probably the same guy who tried to give me the permit talk. He needs to read up on the rules before harassing people.

I even was able to catch the 380 with a GU-11 in the foreground.

Nice vids Steve! You get hassled at the cargo area?

Thanks Nick! I was hesitant in saying I filmed from the cargo areas because it's one area I'm sure everyone will get hassled at, but nobody said anything and nobody came by in the hour I and my friend Dan were there. Didn't see a single cop car or a single private security vehicle drive by.

Wish more international traffic took 13L that day, but I think I understand why... can only imagine what the A380 would be like coming in on 13L! :D

Very nice work Steve. It's good to see recent videos of JFK traffic.
