My fifth time spotting at ALB, and first time being approached by the authorities. I was spotting the departures off of 1 with a friend when an Albany Sheriff cruiser pulled up. For a moment, he turned around, but then came back. Smoking a cigarette, he asked me what I was doing. I told him we were just taking some pictures. He asked if I was a professional, and I answered that I was just an amateur enjoying a hobby. He nodded and asked if I was from around there. I told him I attended school in the area. We casually chatted a minute, and wished us a nice day and left.

The officer had a great personality, was understanding, and friendly, another one of the reasons I love spotting ALB.

On to the pictures. Only a couple for tonight, maybe some more tomorrow.

Finally, the stunning 6:37AM FedEx 727 arrival in all her deserved glory.

NYSP must have had an APB out on you after your speeding incident.

Great shots, Mark, nice that you caught the 727!

I really like the depth in that 727 shot.

Nice shots! Makes me jealous - I haven't been out spotting for quite a while now. Getting Fedex is always a treat. You can also start getting some of the horse transport 727s this time of year as they start gearing up for the Saratoga meet.

Your encounter with the Sherrif's deputy is pretty typical at ALB. Sometimes they'll ask for ID. Only once was I asked to leave. More commonly its a wave and nothing more.
