Don't have all the details but got a heads up that a plane skidded off the runway late this afternoon. An ambulance was requested but unknow if they transported.

A Diamond DA 20 bounced on landing and ended up in the Echo parking area at FRG this afternoon, according to News 12 weatherman Bill Korbel, via Facebook.

Miraculously it didn't hit anything else and no one was injured.

I was there most of the day today. What time did this happen?

Looks more like a DA-40 to me. Thanks for the heads up.

I've flown the DA-20.. That thing is more like a glider with a lawnmover engine! Glad they were able to put it down safely though..

Are the props supposed to be curved like that? Or is it a result of a nasty prop strike?

Why am I not surprised you got a shot of this!? I swear, sometimes I think the guys at FRG call you before they call the FAA!

"What does the FAA suggest we do about this Sir? We can't worry about them yet, GET DERF SCRAMBLED!"

They're not curved.

I kind of like that curved look. Wonder if it makes the prop any more efficient?
Yeah, well anyway, that all looks mighty expensive to fix.

After a prop strike, there's a good chance that the engine (or at least the rotating parts) is junk. The sudden stop in rotation causes all that torque force to be redistributed to parts that aren't designed for that kind of load.
