The thought of making a Gigapan had crossed my mind at the race, but I got lazy and held down the shutter and panned around. Then I stopped altogether deciding that the view was too boring and decided to ditch the panorama. However, when I looked back on the photos I got, I just barely had enough to stitch up the important parts, but still decided to try the panorama.

Now, hours of editing, and a lot of content-aware fill later, I have a 900MB .tiff with a 35558x5330 resolution, comprised of around 40 individual shots. I'm satisfied of the result especially considering what I had to work with.

All the black was manually and synthetically filled in. This is also the first time I'm using content-aware. Of course, it's not as streamlined as how they showed it in the sneak peek, but still saved me a lot of time. Often times artifacts would come up, requiring manual removal.

For those who couldn't make it to the race, the panorama gives you a good idea of what the view/angle was like.
