I've been wondering if SAA has painted any aircraft for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. My searches came-up empty handed. I remember when France had the World Cup, they flew special B744s with soccer players painted along the fuselage. I don't recall if there were any US aircraft with special liveries when the World Cup was played here in NY/NJ back in '94. Which US airline was the official sponsor back in '94?

No - nothing was revealed for the 2010 World Cup - unfortunate - being the hosts and also flying the US national team - which I was very surprised at - Delta has direct flights from Atlanta - but - they flew on SAA.

British Airways has painted soccer balls on the noses of some of their planes.

that 747 with the soccer nose flies into JFK often. Keep an eye out for it. Looks like the entire plane got new paint as well. Before i left T7 that a/c was at T7 2-3 times a week.

I will look-out for the BA World Cup B744. I saw the Qantas B744 with the inscription "Come Home" including a soccer ball here at JFK a few weeks ago. It's almost impossible to see the SAA aircraft at T4. It's hidden from views of the windows where the public can view.
