The president of the Intrepid Museum, Bill White, resigned his post this week after about 2 decades of dedicated service to the museum. He was instrumental in getting us a Concorde and petitioning for a Space Shuttle. How will his resignation affect our chances of receiving a Shuttle?

A spokeman for NASA said Mr. White's departure would not negatively impact the Intrepid's chances.

White is under a state investigation over pension fraud, though he swears his sudden resignation isn't related to that. :?

Very sad and embarrassing for the Intrepid Museum. I visited recently and the workers seemed upset about this resignation and didn't want to speak. I also got into a heated argument with the guy by the Concorde who chased me away because they were spraying a soapy solution to clean her up for Fleet Week. The staff seems uptight as they are usually extremely friendly and helpful. A pity this happened just before the announcement of Space Shuttle assignments to museums. It makes us wonder if there are any honest CEOs out there.

Bill White was a great guy over there. He was so very grateful for NYCA's help with the damaged Intrepid and was a friendly man to communicate with. It is a shame he's involved in some drama at the time and also has to leave. I hope the new management carries the same course for the organization.

I agree. I heard nothing but praise for Mr. White's good works over the years while heading the Intrepid. He was dedicated to charities and was a force which helped Intrepid get a Concorde and helped raise money for the repairs as well as for charities. His attempt to get a Space Shuttle was relentless. We will soon learn if the Shuttle will come to Intrepid. It is a sad day indeed for NYC that he had to resign.
