On May 2nd, Nassau Flyers will be hosting a "Spring Fling" with free food and music on a relaxing day hanging out around aircraft from their hangar for a wonderful outdoor event. A really great day to come and hang out around a whole bunch of different aircraft while eating and mingling with everyone else in attendance. You can also have a look at NFI's full motion flight simulator, their pilot shop,

There will be raffles, plane rides and the American Airport Museum will bring out their Texan and other aircraft. Pilatus will have an aircraft out there as well for which I am very excited as well.

Of course, NYCAviation will also be in attendance, perhaps showing off some photos from the group!

Come by and hang out! Bring your friends and family!

Nassau Flyers at Republic Airport
1300 New Highway
Farmingdale, NY

It's long enough to land, and if you can't take off again, I'm sure the Airpower Museum would take good care of it. :)

Is this something I could bring a 3 year old to? Hoping to bring the family but
it's our 6 year anniversary that day, so I can't make any promises.

.....on the way to the store now, bling shopping might help secure my possibility of showing up ;)

The Pilatus thing....Pilatus is flying in a PC-12 http://www.airforcetimes.com/xml/news/2008/01/ap_cannonp12_080109/080110_pc12_story.JPG

Although the cabin will be closed off, I can personally attest to how photogenic this beauty is..especially up close.

I'm not sure of exact price (either $30 or $40) but if you want to take some great pictures of long island, we'll be doing plane rides all day. If you fancy an open cockpit ride, we'll have a bi-plane taking people up for a cruise as well. There will be live music, full motion simulator rides, discounts on all pilot shop items and of course the BBQ.

If you are interested learning to fly the spring fling is the perfect event to get familiar with the different types of aircraft and ask questions to students and instructors in a friendly and casual atmosphere. We can answer the most frequent questions like "how much is it to learn to fly" or we'd be happy to take you into our class room and have a more in-depth consultation 1on1. I'll be there if you need anything..Just say you're from NYC Aviation and I'll take good care of you. Look for me in a white NFI golf shirt (My name is Ryan if you have not already met me)

Had a GREAT TIME!!!!!! Took a flight and when I got in the plane the pilot asked me if I ever flown before. I told him I did fly 172's but that was back in high school about 19 years ago. Then he said ok your flying today! I took off flew the pattern from sunrise to the LIE then I even landed. It was incredible!! I'm already planning on heading back to fly again!!!

I really wanted to make it today, I had a football game that I couldn't miss.

I want to check out NFI so as to show some support to a NYCA member.

Do you have to be enrolled in the school to take lessons or can I just block out some time w/an instructor?

I got so wasted last night I could not see straight this morning! (I do not drink often so I had to make up for 3 months of nothing more then a beer once every 2 weeks or so with dinner)

Then I had to start getting my responses ready for History Under the Stars... My father in law had a birthday and now I am back to the grind of finalizing the event for airshow and hope to send out emails tonight.

I really wanted to make it today and needed to be there to follow up on a few things with Phil for an upcoming news article for the site. Sorry Phil... I felt like a bug in my bed screaming "HELP MEEE!" hangovers are always worse when you do not drink for a very long time. Anyway, NFI Rocks and I am sorry that I could not hang with the great guys over there! I hope to read allot more of the great time you guys had and congrats on the new Huskies! It is wonderful watching you guys play!

It was nice meeting all of you again! NFI did a great job with this event and it was a great way to spend my Sunday. The weather was PERFECT!

I went on my first flight challenge later in the day and it was an experience of a lifetime! I got to fly the plane from northport and back and it was very fun, I was also able to log 42 mins of flight time. The instructor was a great guy also.Unfortunately, I was very busy with the plane so I was unable to get in air pictures. I'd like to thank Kenny, NFI, and NYCA for allowing me to go on this flight experience!

Here are some pictures I took today:

Eric, the first shot, in the bottom left, is a park called Venetian Shores. Actually its where we took the kids once we left the event. And nice shot of Rt 135.

Kudos to NFI. While I couldn't partake in any rides, the seed is certainly there. Keep it up!

Actually its the LIE. Thats Sunnyside Blvd up top where the bridge is and the Plainview Business District is on
the left. Knew it looked familiar.
And yes it is a nice shot. :D
