First off, Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Like the black helicopter in GOODFELLAS, the DC-3 was back again this morning (11/22) at about 5:30 am.
My thought is that it has something to do with surveying storm damage because it seeemed to be flying a grid pattern.

I knew I wasn't crazy! The DC-3 is N737H

I heard them check in with Kennedy tower this morning and talked about doing "airwork" around LaGuardia. JFK switched them to 125.7 where the said they would work the East and Hudson Rivers and the Conn. coast.

I was also able to follow them on Planefinder.net that showed a track over Northern LI and the Conn. coast.

I'm sure it has something to do with storm damage, if you notice the DC-3 says "Airborne Imaging" on the nose.

Plane finder did not show an originating airport, and the flight did not show up on Flightaware, so I don't know where they are based out of.

Heads up guys.....It will be shortly after dark but with a favorable tail wind it may come in at sunset, but Etihad F1 is enroute to JFK today with an expected arrival of 5:12pm.

Go figure! I chose to work today and left the camera at home....knew I shoulda brought it with me.

Steve what is it with your luck with the F1 man, that stinks- well at least you know it will most probably be too dark for the picture you know you want to take of it

Yeah, its estimated arrival time is the one thing that kept me from spending the money in gas to drive the 78 miles back home from the office to grab my gear and head to JFK....but with my continuing luck with this bird, I'm guessing it will get a nice stiff tail wind and arrive at JFK an hour early and Eric, Mark, and Manny will all post gorgeous photos of it taken during the golden hour. :tongue:

Currently due at 4:15 :tongue: That's 28 minutes short of sunset, but when I was at JFK last week, the light was dead by that time (and there wasn't haze on the horizon).

Dropped off a family member at JFK T4 tonight, swung by T5 departures to look over at the T4 ramp... You could NOT EVEN SEE the planes taking off on 4L. Planes crossing 4L from the mid field taxiways were NOT VISIBLE. The much was thick out there today.

Heads up! At some point tomorrow (or maybe even tonight?) the AA 737 with their new livery will be at JFK for an event tomorrow. At the same time, the AA retro-jet will arrive 9:45 tonight, leaving for BOS at 8:20am tomorrow, but back to JFK just before noon.
Might be able to get retro and modern in the same shot?

I was walking to my car in downtown Albany when I spotted a landing light configuration on final for runway 1 that looked like an MD-80 from a couple miles away. I was puzzled because there isn't any flight inbound at 11:50PM or at any time near 11:50 that is an MD-80. I just got back, and N880DP, the Detroit Pistons' MD-82 had arrived. It's scheduled to depart any minute now for Boston, where they have a game tomorrow against the Celtics.

Looks like it was a US Customs stop. The Pistons played in Toronto that night, hop down to ALB to clear US Customs, then off to BOS.
ALB is a quick customs stop for the teams, and even with the sequestration, it is one of the few ports that still clears after 11pm.
It is either stop in ALB, or wait til the morning for travel.

Another Jet Airways 737 sitting at EWR, VT-JNZ right now (Wednesday). Yesterday EWR had a United 777 (N77?UA) from St. John's YYT Nfld., half full. It arrived there the night before from ORD. Must have picked up passengers from a diversion. Anyone?

Eric, I think we're talking about different planes here. The one that was found on Flightaware showed up as a Qatar Airways 738 that operated the same route at roughly the same times yesterday and was on the schedule for more of the same tomorrow. It's type, route, and times matched an AA flight exactly. The A330 would most likely be an Amiri flight if it is parked over there. While both airlines share pretty much the same livery, they are totally different airlines with different codes.

The Qatar A330-200 was accompanied by the A340-500, which was parked at ADW, and the A310, which was parked at IAD. On my departure from JFK today I saw the A330-200 being prepped for departure and on my arrival to DCA we flew past AFW and I could see the A340-500 with a motorcade parked next to it and the A310, which must have repositioned from IAD during the morning, parked a little further down the field. I imagine the Emir was in DC for a visit.

There was also a C-17 at JFK parked by the triple hangars and the Pharmair A319 by the deicing tent.

Flight JL6 today (5/1) is a 777 with the crane on its tail. Formerly it was "Sky Eco" now I believe it's called the "Sky Suite". Tail number is JA731J, two sources confirm this bird is due to land around 10:40am this morning.

Thats one of the "new" 380s with the longer range?Not sure if some of the 380s have a longer range, but there are 2 configurations - one with 427 Y seats downstairs and then a ULR version with 399Y and a crew rest area. JFK gets the ULR version (A6-EDA through EDF, EDM through EDP, EDY/EDZ, and now EEF to EEH). If some of them have a longer range than others, it's not yet an operational consideration since even that early set operates to SYD, which is the longest 380 route currently in the network.

Kuwait 101 was an A340-300, not a 747. Planefinder, Flightradar24 and several other sources got it wrong, Flightaware got it right (for once).

Iberia "Worlds Longest Tweet did in fact arrive.

Solar Impulse arrived 2.5 hours early and without all of its fancy lighting, on after an earlier incident with the wing coverings forced the cancellation of pretty much everything planned except for the landing itself.
