Killer whales are fierce apex predators of the ocean. But fierce enough to take down a great white shark like it's no problem at all? Apparently so. In an unprecedented sighting, a killer whale takes on a great white shark who approaches too close for comfort to the whale's pod, which includes a new calf. The documentary The Whale That Ate Jaws describes the whole event as it happened in the waters off San Francisco, California.

National Geographic has put together this film about the experience - see the good parts below:

A killer whale is really too much for a Great white to handle. In an encounter the Orca has the advantage because a shark needs to be moving to be effective and will begin to suffocate once it's not swimming and in a stationary state. I think the killer whales eyesight is much better as well. Still cool to see since the great white is hyped so much but Orca is really king of the sea.

Cool stuff. White sharks/Bull sharks/Tiger sharks, can all go extinct as far as I'm concerned
