NEW YORK - New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he is skeptical that the federal government would cover the cost of trying Sept. 11 suspects in Manhattan, a day after President Barack Obama said he had not ruled out holding the trial in New York.

Bloomberg said Monday that he wants the Obama administration to guarantee it will help pay for the added security and other infrastructure the city would have to provide for the trial of professed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four alleged accomplices.

The mayor said he is skeptical "because a lot of times the federal government promises to pay and then the monies don't come."

I also think I may be halucinating but I did I read Schumer is one record telling Obama to hold this trial in a military tribunal? This whole situation has gotten out of hand

Nik, I think we even discussed this elsewhere. It is just assinine. The mouths spewing on all ends of this issue under the big top are so disorganized and un unified that it reminds me of a chinese fire drill. It is obsurd. In the end I think it is going to end up being a mil. tribunal frankly. At this point it would be the only way that this goverment could save face in front of it's own people let alone the world. Our leadership is like Saturday Night Live material for the rest of the worlds newspapers and TV publications as it is. People may have hated the goverment under George II but let's face it. He stuck to his guns hell or high water. I commend that. We marched in one direction as far as he was concerned. Under Obama it's like a tent full of 10 week old puppies chasing the laser pointer from side to side.

What is sad about this is that it came out of more partisan crap. To be honest I didn't care for Bush's decision to try the show bomber in civilian court. I mean the left has to stop reverting back to comparisons to the Bush admin for every time they are called out. The country doesn't care anymore. In fact they are giving Obama very strong signals that they don't want to hear it anymore.Do what is right and not what you feel the opposite of what Bush or Cheney would do. This whole thing was a show trial, dig at the GOP and Holder and Obama should be ashamed at themselves and are now paying the price.
