View Full Version : Secret A380 to Boston Tomorrow (Update with Photos!)

A "mechanic" from "Hamburg" created an account on anet yesterday and in his first post stated that an A380 would be visiting Boston for the first time on Monday, February 8th.

A later post from someone else, quoting an anonymous source:

A380 arrives KBOS from Hamburg-Finkenwerder at 1430 local Monday
A380 departs KBOS to Toulouse-Blagnac at 0800 local Tuesday
I have been unable to confirm this, nor has anyone on anet. No media coverage, no press releases. Nada. I've contacted a friend at Airbus and he didn't know anything about it.

So if you have some time to kill in the Boston area tomorrow afternoon, go check it out, maybe you'll see something. No guarantees though. :)

Further to this post on A-net, it was noted that the A380 would be visiting Miami and Houston after March. Any information about this would be greatly appreciated as I will be visiting MIA and FLL in May, thanks B77WYYZ

I can confirm that the A380 is on the ground at BOS. It is in Airbus colors. It is parked in the area between the FBO and the old Delta MX hangers. It arrived at 1430LCL time. I do not have the reggi. on hand at the second but it is verifyed. In a multi department meeting today it was discussed up at BOS. It is rumored that the A380 will be flying to Port Au Prince with releif supplies. I can not 100% confirm the validity of these statements as I was not present in the meeting at KBOS it was discussed in but the person I was in contact with that was present in the meeting stated that this is the intentions of the 380. Remember that if it happens you heard it first here!

PAP cannot handle the A380.

That is what I thought too so I added the disclaimer.

PTP on Guadeloupe and FDF on Martinique are both capable of handling the A380, perhaps it would fly there and supplies would be shuttled to Haiti somehow.

However Airbus did send the A380 over to China when they experienced their recent quake and Airbus has already sent an A340-300 to PAP with relief support.

The reg was F-WWDD (MSN004). I caught it from on top of Central Parking. If you had a 500mm lens you probably could have gotten the touchdown from terminal B garage but IMO the heat distortion would have made it unusable.

I have pics that I will process as soon as I get home from work. Channel 5 has video of it landing and you can see me as one of the (three) specks on top of central parking.

Very nice work, Dan! And I see that although you joined us last summer, these are your first posts, so let me also say "Welcome Aboard!"

Update: Turns out Airbus sent her over to deliver an unmanned submarine which will be used to search for Air France 447's Flight Data Recorder. I guess that would explain the secrecy.

Also spotted our friend pinktristar being interviewed by WBZ: http://wbztv.com/video/[email protected]

Apparently PAP can handle the AN-225, so perhaps it would be capable of handling the A380 after all. The AN-225 is currently en-route from FAI to MIA where it will then continue onto PAP.
