Saw a news conference today as well where he says it's too much money and basically unnecessary. Glad he finally came to his senses. Obama, ball is in your court.

He's not coming out against the trial, just against it being held in New York.

Personally, I am against the trial, but I don't care if it's in New York. The city is always a target trial or no trial. If it costs $1 billion to secure it, that's an extra $1 billion into the city economy (as long as the Feds pay for it).

I know the term "show trial" is that of being in NY. I am all for them having their day in court. It was just a political stunt to hold it in NY.

The risk no matter how great or small is foolish. Especially for a president who can't afford another mistake. If this goes wrong we could put Fred Miller up against him in 2012 and he would lose. Now there is an idea! Fred in the WH!

Sounds like the White House is caving...Daily News now reporting DOJ has been told to look at other locations.

It was a mistake in the first place. From all standpoints. I hope Obama does change his mind. I don't need NYC residents to have to endure the media circus or traffic this would cause.

NYC has been a media circus since the Dutch set up camp several hundred years back. I am all for the trial. It's called Rule of Law. I don't even care where it's held, plenty of other terrorists have been tried and jailed with no TV/movie like rescues or constant bombings to demand their release. The Blind Sheik and that first WTC bomber (I forget their names) being prime examples. However, saying this, if what the NYPD rings true about having to seal off tons of streets in Lower Manhattan, not allowing shop owners to conducts business and losing money, then yes, move the trial to the sticks. I would actually think that with all the press, hundred more people would put money into that section of NYC, thousands more into NYC in general.

Talk about giving New York the finger...

Official: Terror case may happen outside Manhattan
http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id ... _article=1 (http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9DHIC380&show_article=1)

WASHINGTON (AP) - Facing growing opposition to its plans to hold the Sept. 11 terrorist trial in New York City, the Obama administration is considering moving the proceedings elsewhere.

Two administration officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Friday the Justice Department is drawing up plans for possible alternate locations to try professed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four alleged accomplices in case Congress or local officials prevent the trial from being held in Manhattan.

The officials did not say where else the trial might be held, but others have suggested an unpopulated island near Manhattan or nearby military installations.

i just can't understand why we as a country are trying terrorists in court. aside from that i gotta agree with our mayor on this one, holding this circus in NYC is a dumb idea and unnecessary.

Frankly, the only trial that should be held for these guys should be in a dark basement someplace in the midwest using hot pokers, dull blades, and other assorted items. This trial is kangarooish to hold. They are guilty. And they are forign terroists who are to blame for the deaths of thousands of people who died on 9/11 not to mention great economic tribulations that faced us after the attack. On topic, it shouldnt be held in NY if they are going to give these bums rights. For all the reasons the Mayor and others have outlined. Not to mention that if their travel is anything other than from a basement to a court room in a secure elevator in which they dont ever even get to see a window somewhere some place someone with a keen eye and a steady hand is going to try to squeeze one off at them anyway.
