NYPD on the New Season of "24"?

Anyone watching the new season of "24" which is set in NYC? I was curious why they are using unrealistic uniform patches
and even different color RMPs for the NYPD? This is probably the first TV show/movie I've watched where they did this.
Maybe the bosses at the PD have something against "24" or maybe Fox and didnt want accurate images used?
Very curious.
