So we have a Canon DSLR

and our Canon PnS ElpH 5 MegaPix camera is dying (actually it takes pics with a color cast/tinge that makes the pics look like prints from the late 70s and early 80s. Pretty cool actually )

Does anyone here have recommendations on a new point n shoot camera? Just looking for easy for wife to use, easy to use with a Mac.

And, I want to consider a Nikon as well as our usual Canon ELPH. We were happy with the ELPH but are open to the world of NIKON.

So please submit your recommendations.

the point-and-shoots that my parents, sister and brother use are all olympus. they vary by model and capabilities but i've never had a problem with any of them. one tidbit, they use only olympus-designed xD media cards.

Mario I have an Olympus. Can't say enough good things about it. As a point and shoot it takes fantastic shots. I take it with me when I travel for biz.

All these shots were taken with it. So you can get an idea of the quality.

If you want a small one, the Elphs are still pretty sweet. If you want better quality, I've heard nothing but raves about the Canon G10...I think they just came out with the G11 so you might find some deals on the G10.

I appreciate the input.

I was thinking NIkon or Canon. Some others on Anet mentioned SONY, which brings up the point...

besides a compact point and shoot, we'd like the camera to take HD movies. Thats a nice tool to have.
More considerations anyone?
