Already there!
Now the trick for me is getting super flexible time off... :?

Basically yeah, but it's going to be a 3 or 5 hour test flight PAE-BFI. It will head out over the sound and play around over the water and mountains with the T33's watching every detail on each wing.

I might make the trip. I had my ducks lined up to go for Dec. 22nd but depending on the person I am planning to spend time with outside of the flights sched. Fingers crossed.

Everybody can at least spot vicariously though those who are there. Get some good photos guys! Video wouldn't be bad either...

Here are 2 more questions:
1. is it likely for 787 to visit NY area airports during its test flight? I think the 380's JFK visit was a special case since they had to prove the airport was able to handle the double-decker. As a "normal" plane, will 787 need to prove out anything? Anyone here remembers what happened during 777 test flight?

2. which will like be the first airline that introduce commercial service into NY area airpots -- CO?

This is an initial test flight, not a route proving run. The 787 will not even venture beyond Washington state, much less come anywhere near NY. The A380 flight to NY was completely different.

You folks should stay tuned to NYCAviation throughout the day on Tuesday. If you have a Twitter and don't follow us yet (@NYCAviation), please do so. We will have some of our folks on the scene taking photos and giving us updates on everything going on.

Back when ANA was expecting an on-time delivery of the 787 they were planning on starting a second daily NRT-JFK with the 787 as one of their first routes with the aircraft. However with all the delays I'm not sure if this is still a plan.

I will not miss this day for anything, well unless hospitalized. Lucky to have manager's who are good friends and understand my desire to be there for the first flight, plus living in Puget Sound helps.

On a side note, I was there for first flight of the 777 in June of 1994, so this will be my second first flight to see in person (knock on wood).

Edit: Also just thought that the local TV stations, King 5 - Komo 4 - Kiro TV, have a good chance to be streaming live video from their helicopters for the first flight. King5 did have streaming video of the emergency landing of Asiana's 777 here a few months back.

Boeing will also have a stream at www.newairplane.com (http://www.newairplane.com). Hopefully it won't get overloaded.
