Wow. Glad nobody was seriously injured...but man that road is just a nightmare.
Yeah after this accident I can't stress the importance of being aware whether you are the driver or the spectator.

I just saw (Airshow)Steve put a warning and heads-up on his Facebook page and I put a heads up on the Bethpage FCU Air Show Facebook page. Lots of Yahoos out this weekend and the more we can warn people the better. Even out of
tragedy some good can come.
Glad your family members are home and recovering.

Either the AAM or Main Terminal should be a good spot to watch the planes.

Falcon, glad to hear that things fared OK for you.

I ran into Kenny twice uyesterday, (as I was doing Home Dopey runs all day) and I did see the Cf18 at a distance.

Came to Home Dopey again (and nearly ran over Kenny...) and the CF18 was out and about.

Took my son to see the 530 Blue 7 arrival. She got there 15 min early so we missed it.

Anyhoo, what time are the Blues slated to go op today?

The team needed some time with the arresting cable, plus a private jet couldn't wait.... (listening to the tower)

I saw them land then had to rush off for another non-plane shoot....

And some kid rear ends me getting on the the SSP at 109 !!! Good thing I was in the Rover and he hit the bumper.

So we have at least 2 hits (maybe it's me).... be careful !

I was stationed in the parking lot of the movie theater when the Blues came in this morning. I noticed an SCPD car on the other side of the lot. I was there from 8:45 until they landed, and the car did not move from it's spot. I was surprised when they came in late - very unusual for the military to not arrive on time, even if there was a problem enroute. Didn't help that I was supposed to be at my office at that same time. Now I gotta make up all the time missed!

To make things worse, the photos I took came out terrible. Most of them were out of focus. I was using a telephoto lens and I could not focus the lens fast enough to catch them in time. Memo to self: practice shooting fast-moving objects ahead of time.

Oh well, at least I was in a good place to see them land as I guessed the right runway for the approach. I was afraid they'd come in on 32 since a handful of departures were using 1. Got lucky with that.

Here's my gallery (bad shots included):

Blue Angels arrived about 9:30. Approx 11am, the diamond flew down to the beach to check landmarks and such, just before Noon the two solos did likewise. The full team (Fat Albert included) departed approx 1:45pm for a show practice. Two A-10s arrived just past Noon. Second Canadian F-18 arrived at 1pm. Civilian aerobatic performers were up and down much of the day. Golden Knights arrived early afternoon also.

FYI- the CF-18 Media flight was cancelled today because of the overcast weather apparently,
and the CF-18 Maintenance officer I talked to said it might be rescheduled for Monday possibly?? :borat:

Also, a bunch of us had the pleasure to talk "Dusty", the A-10 Demo pilot for quite awhile today,
and he mentioned as of right now he was due to fly in the practice show at approximately 12:45PM.

Anyway, it was great seeing Big Tim, Christina, Joe C., Larry, Moose and Fred today at FRG.

At 12:55p Today the two Blue Angel solos(5-6) Retuned to FRG from their Circle maneuvers(Scouting) down at the Beach. I was at the fence line by the main Terminal. As they were Taxing back the Lead guy form the ground Crew was fielding questions Just before, During & After he was lining them up on the Tarmac. He Spoke of a THU 9a Departure for the Angels for the Annapolis Graduation Fly over. I Actually Remember them Coming And Going for that on that Fri in 2008 too. Also he mention a 1:45p Delta(#1-#6) Departure for the Fri Dress Rehearsal. Hopefully the Weather Cooperates.

I think I had seen some of you just prior to that over by the A-10s that landed at About 12:15p. There was a bunch of Photographers Huddled and Conversing on the fence-line in the Museum Lot just as the A-10 Shut there engines off. One of you were on the inside of the fence holding Court with a few on the outside. I wish I knew who was who I would have said hello and thanks in person.
... Anyway thanks for all the Great Shots you all take and Post here. :D :D :D

Well, as some of you know I was "Working" today. Unfortunately, my dumb ass didn't think about my Irish skin getting ravaged from the sun on the ramp. I walked in the house, red as a lobster. So busted...

LMFAO I am even redder then yesterday. Need to go buy tube top shirt so I don't look like a farmers wife haha

Having card reader problems but for anyone at the beach this afternoon I would liketo buy Blue ANgel # 5 a drink after that incredible high speed pass right on the deck, if he does it again the same way you won't be disappointed.

oh, I got it.

The arrival this morning

Great captures Fred. Was that from the Theatre Lot? Where is your favorite spot for a 14 Departure?
I think I am going to camp for the Potential Fri 9a Departure that I heard about From Angels Ground Crew.
But I do have to get to work so I think this will be only look at a Take off till Sunday.

The arrivals were taken righ by the fence in the Home Depot parking lot at the end of runway 14. I think it wasthe only time they landed on 14 today, the other two times that I wasthere for they used 32. I would figure on a 14 departure which is what my take off shots were. And they were taken from New Highway overthe fence between the arresting gear and the tower.

I sat there and watched Fred work the fence like he was the president or the pope, it was three deep and all the rest of the crowd was wispering, "That's him, that's the picture guy." I couldn't even get close enough to introduce my self to thre rest of the NYCA & ASB members.

Hi All,

So I'm new to this page. My name's Rachel. Everyone seems so knowledgeable and helpful so I'm hoping you won't mind answering my question tonight. (I spent the early evening skulking around Republic) but I plan on going to practice at Jones tomorrow. The thing is, I don't know what field I should go to. Can anyone help me out and tell me the best spot to go to?

Thanks so much! And I look forward to being active on the board!

Great Blue Angels pictures everybody. I kept thinking of the Van Halen "Dreams" video while seeing the pics lol.

I will be at FRG tomorrow at about 10-ish. I'm not sure where to park at when I get there, but I'll be the skinny bald guy probably wearing a JetBlue cap. :)

Welcome Rachel!

If you're looking to take pictures, I'm with Moose. If you just want to watch the show and not have such a crowd, head on down to the West Bath house. Keep in mind that the 106th will have one of their Pavehawk's on display over at the West Bath house as well. That should be arriving sometime today.

Anyone notice the forecast for tomorrow? Chance of rain wouldn't worry me too much, but the lightening does. I am on the fence as what to do. I am worried that if the storm comes, we wont be able to get to the car or a safe place.

If I wait until Sunday, I know it will be PACKED. Ugh

There is always the chance of the occasional T-storm. Since the beach and airport are both pack on Sat/Sun it wont make a difference. Personally, I'm going to try to make it to the USMC demo on sat and the show on sun.

NICE!!

I dont know any information on the other planes but keep and I out for a Prowler, C-17, and maybe even a T-6

2 F-18s came in from the south almost 5PM. They were given option of 1-9 or 1-4 but chose 1-4. Cool for me as I was
parked right in the movie parking lot. :D
They came in and did a fly-by first with a break to the left. When they came in the second time the first F-18 did a
go-around and the 2nd landed. At the same time I believe it was the CF-18 coming in. He was given 1-9 but had
to wait until the Hornet came around then he landed 1-9 and the F-18 1-4!! Got all that? LOL!!
Was there until 6:20 and never saw the C-17 or the Prowler.

I just left the terminal to get food and I saw an F-18 fly over.

I'm sorry about the C-17 and prowler I dont know what happened to them.

Also, does anyone know if Julie Clark arrived?

[quote="RepublicAviation"]The practice show at the beach today wasn't impressive.

I have to agree. Long times with no action. I even was able to finish a book I had brought with me.
The CF-18 was alright as was the A-10. Nothing special.
Enjoyed a number of the aerobatic guys and girls!!
BUT.....the FRIGGIN ANGELS ROCKED!!!!! :D :D
Fat Albert started the performance with a number of fly-bys and turns. Very cool.
Then the main performers came in from the ocean side!!
Wow they were so good. Maybe it was me but it seemed at times they flew lower and closer than I had seen before!!
And the one jet blasting along on the deck while a second roared over our heads top speed from the rear
proved that my heart is in pretty good shape!! :)
And another time I watched as one of the solo performers came in low from the west. But as they got closer I
realized it was actually BOTH the soloists. They were so close it looked like one jet!!
It was a wonderful performance and worth sitting there for 4 hours until they came on.

I saw the show earlier - the Blues Rocked - amazing pictures from all of you folks (My pics came out awful)- I thought all of the acts were very good (though I didnt get down till somewhere after 1130). I love the A-10!.

My Daughter and I went down to republic afterwards - what time does the meet and greet run till? (we were down by the main republic terminal and didnt see anyone)

The 2 f-18 that came in looked like they were from vfa -125 (Rough raiders).... are they doing any kind of a demo?

Well I went to the practice last year, and it was great. The Super Hornet flew twice and everything flew. Today was different. A few of the planes didn't fly, and it was pretty much a low show so that's the main reason why it wasn't super great. Like I said, the Blues were the highlight.

some cool stuff. I'm putting up a Facebook photo album for the weekend.

Hello All,

I was able to go out to the airport and hung out by the gate area next to the Museum. The guard at the gate was very nice, he let a few of us
stand there for hours with no problem. The Canadian CF-18 Crew must be the friendlies crew ever. They let everybody come up to their airplane, in small groups. I was able to take a few pics of the CF-18's plus I took a nice video of the Hornet's pre flight at about 1530. The pilot then decided to turn into the runway right there by that gate and lit up the afterburners for takeoff! I had to cover my ears since I didnt have earplugs. It felt like a small earthquake! Incredible. I was by the Dave & Busters lot when the Canadian F-18 came in to land along with the 2 US Hornets at about 1700. The US Hornets landed on the other rwy while the CF-18 landed by the Dave & Busters. I had a great time. Thanks to everyone in this forum for all the spotting tips!

First off, nice photos folks!

Sorry, I would have liked to have met more of you and bumped into more folks. I had my daughter in her stroller and stopped draggin that thing about 100 past the boardwalk!

Loved the Blues Echelon rolls. Loved the entire show and it brought back memories to when I was them doing the same moves back in DC in late 79!

Being this was my first time to see the Jones Beach Airshow (not the first time seeing the Blues though,) I have to say I was happy with what I saw. Maybe I'll be brave to do the Sat/Sun show in the future!

Of course, one of the best moments was when the diamond crew where doing there pass while I knew 5 and 6 would be getting ready to do a clandestine run across the deck. But one is never prepared for it!

Yes, that one Angel came really low across the water, so low that from our vantage point 100 feet from the boardwalk, we could not see him across the deck, only hearing him until he pulled up. And of course, I was glad to see the second guy blast right above us!

Good fun and my son enjoyed it! (My daughter didnt even notice a thing except the sound.)

Good times!
Have a great weekend guys!

Finally was able to stop at the terminal today and take some test shots with my new camera. Nothing fancy. I'll try my hand at some aerial shots this weekend.

About that low pass...do they perform that at the actual show? I thought there were safety regulations. Not that I would mind having a Hornet fly so close to me. Must have been awesome to be right there.

What exactly were you watching. For a "Practice show" it was very good. The gap between performances was because some of the performers did not go up today. The Blues were very good today and they didn't even do their whole show.

Outstanding shots so far from everybody that has made it so far down to FRG and at the practice show on Friday.... I got down to the practice show about 930-940am and hung out with Moose and John Klos and his family...... I missed the WWII aircraft and the Blue Angles, had to leave for work..... Got also to meet Eric for the first time, don't know what handle you go by on the forums.....

Will be down at Jones Beach on Saturday with my NEW lens
(Canon 100-400mm L lens).... Treating myself early for my birthday in June...
Can't wait to get some sweet shots with this lens compared to my
Sigma 18-200mm. If you see a guy with a Alaska boonie hat, thats me......

I Hear that- I was trying to do much the same by the west bathouse- lol  I had so much trouble with the glare I was getting off of the screen (I have a powershot as well), it was awful to use - I didnt even try during the Blue angels as I didnt want to waste their performance being frustrated...

It's funny because I had the opposite problem lastnight.

I was trying to shoot static aircraft on the ramp & all I had was my zoom lense so I was having to stand back 50 meters just to get the aircraft in a shot. As Derf said, "A Bazooka to a knife fight"...

They typically takeoff within 15 minutes of the scheduled Show-time.
Been trying to get a show timeline rundown for a few days now. If that exists, Where is it posted?

It most certainly exists but for some reason this year they did not release it to the general public.

The A-10 East pilot said he would post as much as he could on: http://twitter.com/aerialevents

The practice show at the beach today wasn't impressive. The Blues were very good though. I ?

What exactly were you watching. For a "Practice show" it was very good. The gap between performances was because some of the performers did not go up today. The Blues were very good today and they didn't even do their whole show.

I needed more "thunder" The CF-18 and A-10 seemed like they were going through the motions. Maybe that
was just me and it was a "practice". But I've been to a number of other practice shows and they were much more
energetic.
Anyways..... did anyone notice the two civilian aerobatic planes tailing the Golden Knight plane as it climbed for
altitude? Then they buzzed the jumpers with smoke as they came down. That was very cool.
And loved the way the Red Bull jumpers picked up speed as they roared toward the beach then hit the brakes at the
last moment. 8)

It's usually Ed Hamill who does that with the Golden Knights.

The Blues were amazing at the beach! I will post pictures later. Just wanted to let everyone know I am heading to the 56 for happy hour, rumor was there may be some Angels there. I will be wearing a white tank top and skirt. Come and say hi if you decide to come!

Must be nice having the "legs" the skirt, LOL! Enjoy.

It was a long skirt lol

I tried to find you. I went and talked to Chris and walked around towards you but there was like 50 strollers. So I just walked by hoping you would notice me maybe lol

Fridays weather conditions made the performers a do their "low shows" on Friday. Winds today had the Blues do a non formation takeoff. Mother Nature is keeping the rain away, but still is playing with the performers.

Does anyone know why they Blues are using the 2-seater in position 4? I heard it's because the Super Hornets are coming so they are just trying to rotate the old stock so to speak. But it just sounded a bit weird to me.

Hope everyone has been having as much fun as me!

How was the Marine demo at Eisenhower? I was very disappointed that it was canceled at Farmingdale, of course I waited for an hour before giving up on it. Any idea why it was canceled?

As far as weather was concerned, with the openness of the airport, it was very windy and a little on the cool side. I enjoyed the weather and the planes. There was a dark gray C-147(?) that did a fly over at Farmingdale, however, it stayed somewhere else as it never returned. I look forward to the show at the beach tomorrow.

Mother Nature teased us this morning but the clouds burned off nicely for the second half of the show.

Windmiller looked amazing! I love that plane & am in awe watching him fly.

Hamster changed the sponsor, paint job & show narration. What didn't change was his precision flying. Looked great.

CF-18 had amazing music, unfortunately, they had to do a low show. Looked much tighter today and Boozer does a good job at working out that Hornet. I loved the Dirty Pass with everything, including the Refueling probe!

John Klatt looked as sharp as ever. He was missed last year and it was good to see him & his WOOO-HOOO Flip back!

The entire RED BULL team was amazing & it was cool seeing Chamberliss flying in person.

Loved the 106th. That HC-130 must have made 5 passes overhead @ 300ft or less! You can feel the props form that monster with every pass!

Julie Clark was amazing. It was my first time seeing her & I had tear in my eyes when she did her America tribute. Listening to her communicate to ATC & seeing her perform, it's no wonder she has the reputation she does. A class act & top tier performer all the way!

Sean D. Tucker doesn't look like he has a new plane! He flies the new one like he was born in the thing. I never get tired of seeing him perform.

Dusty & his A-10 put on an amazing demo today! I love watching him fly the Warthog, it's so graceful, yet intimidating at the same time. I can just imagine what that thing must look like in combat, it's a good thing I don't need to see it first hand!

The Blues looked better than I've ever seen them. I was so blown away at how tight they were & their timing was pretty much right on today. The sneak had people jumping from the East to the West Bath House! I love the new tunes & can't wait to see them again tomorrow & later on this summer.

I know the lineup was a little light on the Burners this year but I'm very impressed at how this show has grown over the years. It's extremely well organized & Wayne Boggs does a fantastic job at keeping the action going as well as keeping the show on time. Rob Reider also does a great job (as always). He kept the flow going so there was never really a lull in the action, even when there were no planes in the airshow box. He also has quite the singing voice as was heard during the opening National Anthem.

Great day today & with temps in the high 80's tomorrow, looking for another!

See you on the beach!

Fighting_falcon_51

It was canceled due to lack of ramp space. Also it was a c-130 from the 106th that probably had extra gas and flew by.

Great Review Big Tim, I concur!

For me...
Got a Late Start (w/Teenage Daughter and her Friend) and Was on the RM Causeway during the CF-18.
My Buddy Said he was not impressed with CF-18, but then again he Compares everything to The F-22 Raptor Demo from 2 years Ago, Which sets the Bar Very High. The Low show Explains why he was not impressed. Hopefully with Blue Skies in the Forecast for Sunday, will make it better Chance for a CF-18 High Show.

Weather was Windy At times and the Sun did Eventually break through in time for Angels to do a High Show, as Rob Explained to crowd.

In My Opinion... Not the Best Day for photos.
I had Been Toying with a Friends Canon 20D 18-250mm for the First time.
Reviewing the 370 I took... Even my shots away from the Glare Still did not cut through the lingering Haze. I Spent most time on the Board walk Between East Bathhouse and Water Tower, Just a Bit Left of Show Center under a Boardwalk Canopy. After Reading here and seeing the High Speed Pass photos From FRI, Went down to The Water for the Blues.
All I can Say is WOW. :o :o :o I was about 10' from the water's edge for That # 5 High speed Deck Pass and it Was My Highlight of Day. It had to be less than 100' over the Deck.

I may just go early to beach on Sunday to Catch what I missed today and leave after CF-18. I want to Get to FRG for Departures & Returns. Wishing For Bluer Skies...

I was actually chatting with the folks from the CF-18 demo at the announcers stand after the show today.

They were EXTREMELY disappointed to have low ceilings again today. Their low show is basically a series of flyby's which is what we saw today.

Tell your friend to wait & pass judgment on them after tomorrow when Boozer will have clear skies to do his thing.

I have the energy just not the patience to sit in that traffic. My wife was there at 8 this morning with friends
walking on the boardwalk and she called me about 30 minutes ago and said traffic was crazed. They drove out
east to Robert Moses to go north.

Some from me from friday.. Wish I had to the energy to go to the beach today

I have the energy just not the patience to sit in that traffic. My wife was there at 8 this morning with friends
walking on the boardwalk and she called me about 30 minutes ago and said traffic was crazed. They drove out
east to Robert Moses to go north.
Today is an FRG experience day for me. 8)

LOL I could deal with traffic just not being there at 8am with 3 kids. I would feel guilty leaving them at home

Well it was mixed day. I headed out to Jones Beach at 10:45 this morning only to see the electronic signs say that the Lots were full and that the Beach was closed. They shut down the Meadowbrook and Exit M9 I tried to get in both at the Wantagh and the Meadowbrook but no can do. It's incredible that the Beach got so packed this year. I never belived it could get so filled so fast. Next year we're leaving at 9 AM to get tto the beach for the show.

Anyway we salvaged part of the day by going to FRG and saw the Blues leave at 1:45. Got some pics but had to take pics through the fence. Outstanding departures from the Blues, Fat Albert, the A-10 and the CF-18. :borat:

Wow I cant believe its over. Just a busy 3 days with the Air Show/MAGDT/FRG action.
Todays weather was incredible with bright sun and warm temps. I arrived a little after 11 and
hunkered down in the lot by Dave & Busters off 1-9. The Warbirds were using 1-9 while everyone
else was using 1. Around 12 I walked up to the fence line to see if the A-10 was getting ready to go
up and they were AND so was the back-up CF-18!!! They taxied down to 1 and I moved back to the lot
to have a better look. The A-10 went out first coming off the deck low. THEN!!!! the CF-18 also came
off 1 LOW AND FAST and roared right past us!! That was amazing and set off the car alarm next to me!!
I then went to the other side for the Blues departure. The C-130 used 3-2 and headed out and the
Blues used 1-4. When they came back both used 3-2 to land.
After that I went back to the fence by 1-9 and saw to my delight that the two F-18s were prepping to
head out. I went back to my car to cool off in the A/C and on departure I heard them give the F-18s
3-2 to depart. Well I departed also and headed over to the lot by the movie theater and went up to the
fence by 1-4 and got a real nice view of their departure!!!
From there I went to the Terminal to get an idea on when the Blues would depart. Given an ETD so I went
back into my car and drove over to the theater lot thinking they would use 3-2. Uh oh the Blues decided to use 1-4 so I sped out and arrived just in time by the fence to see them leave. Very cool and yes Christina # 7 did a very nice departure!!!! The C-130 rolled to 3-2 and had to wait about 20 minutes before they were cleared to go.
A wild 3 days but just so much fun. Now tonite I'll re-introduce myself to my family :) have a few adult
beverages and watch some TV!!
Great pictures, info and reporting by everyone here!! That really helped the whole weekend experience!!!

Post Show Notes & Review

AAM Warbirds/B-17 Yankee Lady/Warbirds Over Long Island: They really did an excellent performance this year. It was great to see so many vintage warbirds up at the same time.

Skytypers: As always they did an excellent job in their SNJ's. They even changed it up a bit this year!

Bill Kearns: He didn't fly today :(

USCG HU-25: It was nice to have something unique and it was the first time the USCG has demonstrated at the Jones Beach Airshow!

Ed Hamill: He didn't fly last year due to engine issues but he came back this year better than ever!

Julie Clark: Julie Clark really put on a show and honored the service men and women of America. You must really love your country to fly and hold the American flag at the same time!

Team Oracle: Arguably the most exciting 15 minutes of the show. Sean is a great guy and he never fails to put on a performance to get the crowd going!

Chuck Aaron: Another very unique performer. I still can't believe he can do that with a helicopter!

Red Bull Airforce: The jumpers were crazy fast and kept the crowd going! A+

Red Bull Edge: He did some crazy action packed maneuvers can't wait to see him next month!

John Klatt: Another performer that didn't come last year that I was excited to see. Boy can he fly!

Matt Chapman: He is one of my personal favorites. He really sets the airshow atmosphere and always has a great performance.

David Windmiller: Its always great to have a local show his passion for aviation, and David did just that. His performance is unbelievable I wish he could fly more shows!

106th ANG: The 106th Rescue Wing never fails to show the full capability of the Air National Guard. They were great this year!

US Army Golden Knights: I still don't know how these guys have the guts to jump out of a plane! Great performance.

CF-18: The CF-18 demo was a very unique one and was different from the normal USN F-18 demo. It was great!

A-10 Demo Boy can Dusty fly that hog! The performance was incredible!

Blue Angels: They were just amazing this year! And they never fail to scare me during those sneak passes!

I must say, I LOVE an Airshow weekend on Long Island..... I did the practice show on Friday, hung out with Moose and John K.

Saturday - was very iffy day due to overcast and threat of rain, So after I picked up my New lens (Canon 100-400mm L) went to FRG and stayed the whole day.

Saturday night - had a blast at American Airpower Museum for Night Under the Stars 2010 event.... It was great to meet new faces and old ones too..... We did stop shooting for 20 minutes due to rain around 10pm and than shoot again.... Have to thank the people at American Airpower Museum and Fred Miller for setting this up for us....

Sunday - Left house at 800am for the Airshow at Jones Beach and took Ocean Prkway, 4 miles from the Jones Beach Watertower it was all backed up and had Lot 4 closed already at 915am. I got into lot 3 and walked out onto the beach..... Holly man, I never seen a crowed of people this large in a couple of years..... Now I am a burnt lobster and uploading my shots from today..... Glad I was at the beach Sunday and had a BLAST....

Julie Clark: Julie Clark really put on a show and honored the service men and women of America. You must really love your country to fly and hold the American flag at the same time!

When Julie was getting ready to leave the controller in the Tower asked "Arent you the lady I saw flying upside down yesterday"?
And he also commented about holding the flag while flying. She said its probably the hardest part of her routine!!
She did do a great job all around!!

Nice shots everyone! I brought the family to the show on Sunday and what a beautiful day it was and a great show. However, there was one thing that almost made me decide never to come to another show at Jones ever again. We left Deer Park at 0800 and made good time to the toll booths on the Wantagh. I'd say we hit the traffic on the Wantagh for the booths just past the outer bridge. It was 0840 and it took us 15 mins tops to get thru the booths and get to lot 4 and parked. Thats not bad. Now normally thats it for the delays. At least in the past 6 years I have attended. We walked from the back of lot 4 to the underpass. Now in years past its a quick walk and in no time your thru security and on the board walk. Well we got to the underpass and came to a screeching halt. Mobs of people crammed together in that tunnel. It took ONE HOUR of standing in line to get thru security. We got to the boardwalk at 1000 when the flag jump happened and still had to find our spot on the beach.

This was ridiculous and never happened before. In years past the checkpoints were mostly for the coolers to check for alcohol. Apparently this year was like trying to get on to an AFB (why I don't go to free AFB shows) and every single bag was checked with only two lanes no less. That was unacceptable. I think they took the hint eventually and started giving a cursory look at the bags and just opened the coolers. My friend Eric who arrived an hour after us ended up in lot 3 further west and said he didn't hit this kind of delay when he entered by the west bathhouse. We'll try that next year.

I had my Pro-97 scanner with me this year and heard all the action including airboss. I happend to catch something maybe someone heard about? I picked up a mayday call on the freq used by the 106th. One of their crewmen was injured in a fall and suffered head trauma. On a later call I heard they needed an HH60 for extraction. Has anyone heard about this?

They have three checkpoints to access the boardwalk near "show center" The one coming up the walkway from field four. I will admit I never heard of that much of a delay before and I have used that way in a few times.

The checkpoint on the boardwalk entering the area from the west side had 4 stations and no line.

If you want to avoid checkpoints all together park in any lot other than field four and enter the beach before one of the other two boardwalk checkpoints and just walk over the sand to where you want to sit.

There were a lot of people Sunday, 236,000 so it was crowded.

But it took me 10 minutes to get out of field three and hit no traffic on the Meadowbrok leaving at 3:30PM. Ironically they still had the southbound lanes closed.

Great stuff everyone... I will have to take a lot more time to go thru everything allot better after I get done editing. I am sorting out the shots I want to use and I am up to 1100 from the start until Fat Albert returned on Saturday!!! UGH, I guess I am going to have to remove about 75% of the ones I want to keep!

Please keep in mind that is not including the 2 Sean Tucker flights and 1 T-6 flight with Paul Farber....with those three flights I think I have 2000 I want to keep!

Brilliant shots everyone!

I was away from Saturday AM onward but you guys made it like I never left!

As I headed north on Wellwood from my gym to the office, I saw the A10s depart, taking a long arc eastward and then arcing back west over FRG/Melville. Its great seeing them at a distance sometimes, in the open sky.

So whats news? Coney Island?!! :borat:

THanks to Fred, Moose, Eric, Tom and everyone for sharing the pics and making this such a good thread.
Sorry I was unable to meet all of you, but one day!

Well its the most depressing time of year :( The Jones Beach Airshow and all the festivities around it have ended. While I tried to keep everyone informed, I ran into some personal issues that held me back but I hope you guys made use of what I posted and I'm ready for next year! Also it was nice meeting up with you guys and seeing some new and familiar faces. I hope to see you guys attend the Red Bull Air Race, The Atlantic City Airshow, Cony Island, The Grand Old Airshow and all the other air events in the area! And don't worry Jones Beach is only 365 days away ;)

Until next time,
--Kenneth

By the way the static webpage is uploaded and the Steve's Airshow World (http://www.stevesairshow.com/) teaser is embedded in this thread.

The narration audio will be up late Friday afternoon.
