What are your favorite special livery aircraft which you have actually seen in person (not on internet)? Some of my favorites seen at JFK was the ANA Pokemon B744, Alitalia "Baci" and "Bulgari" B744s, Qantas "Wunala Dreaming" B744, SIA "Tropical", Western Pacific's "Simpsons", DAL "Olympic Spirit", America West's "Phoenix Suns" "Diamondbacks" and I also saw Continentals" "Peter Max" B777 at EWR. Which are you guys favorite special liveries? Notice that most of those I mentioned have been re-painted. I guess using aircraft as advertising is too expensive.

Just a couple for me... US Airways: PSA, Eagles, Steelers; American's 757 retrojet, West Pac's Simpsons and Stardust, Continental's Alitalia and VASP "half n half" DC-10's and finally SWA- Maryland1 and these two:

I always liked the split Singapore Ba livery on BOAD.

I'm surprised you didnt mention that in your list, Shulman.

I always liked the split Singapore Ba livery on BOAD.

I'm surprised you didnt mention that in your list, Shulman.

I liked Concorde liverys in the following order
:-
1) BA's Blue tail (I think its called landlore)
2) White tail Concorde (livery with G-BOAD has now)
3) Singapoor Airline Concorde
4) Air France Concorde livery

Other liverys used on subsonic planes
:-
BOAC
Pan Am and TWAs 1960's liverys.
East African Airlines 1960s livery used on the VC10s.
Virgin
Aeroflot
Ok jet
American Airlines
Air Italia
Quantas
South African airwarys
Jamacia Airways
Air Canada
Lufthansa's 1989 livery looked very smart as well.

I liked the old Capitol Bicentennial (aka Stars and Bars) livery on their DC-8. I can't seem to find a pic of it though. Maybe it's Capital? I also liked the Calder Colors Brannif DC-8. Three underrated regular liveries, IMO, was BWIA, from the 70's and 80's, the old Gulf Air "Eagle" from the same era and Seaboard World, again from the same era.

These are the three special liveries that I ever liked.....(along with Maryland one that I don't have yet.)
TWA/AAL Hybrid Boeing 717-200 and Arizona Cadinals 757-200 and Power Puff Girls 737-200.

I'm suprised no one mentioned the Pepsi Concorde?

Air France did one for some promotional stunt but that was never used in commercial flight and i never saw a Pepsi Concorde.

I saw pics of it but that made Concorde look ugly as the wings could not be painted the same colour as the body, they had to be kept white so the plane looked half finished.

If they had used a better paint scheme, better colours and design, it would have been different but you can see some ad man from pepsi throwing countless $s to Air France for a rubbish paint scheme to promote their drink.

I think a 7up or Coca cola Pepsi would have looked cool with the right colour scheme.

For me Concorde always looks good in white with livery from what ever airline is flying.

Singapoor Concorde was very smart.

Matt, yes they just had them painted up from the TWA and future deliveries of 717s. I think that plane had just been painted (unpainted) the week before I shot it. When I shot that I have no idea of the rarity of the TWA/AAL 717s livery. VERY few people shot or or new of their existence. I shot both of them at the time.
Another shot Tommy will sure enjoy :)

Actually, the Br. Cal. livery was not special at all; it was their normal livery. They sent a B747 and a D10 to JFK for a few years then the service stopped. I heard that BA bought them out. They had a great livery; very elegant and royal!

Thanks for mentioning the "Singapore/BA Livery" Concorde. This is my favorite of all time. I even purchased a fibreglass model back in 1980. I omitted this because the livery was actually a normal BA Livery on 1-side and a normal SIA livery on the other side. I was trying to discuss aircraft with advertising or special events (Olympics, FIFA,etc). I consider the SIA/BA livery as a hybrid (2 different airliners on the craft) but thanks again for remembering my very favorite aircraft ever.

You can, but you gotta be on the ball  Just put it on your PlaneFinder App to alert you when she is coming to NY. Set the area for Worldwide. As soon as she takes off, you have at least 12 hours to get to JFK. If you're in Chicago, she comes to ORD a lot more often than JFK

What I went through to catch the F1 bird...it would be lousy weather (like actual IFR) or I'd hear about it after the fact. One day, I had a heads up that it was inbound, and my car died on Peninsula Boulevard. As I waited for the tow truck, sure enough, it flew directly overhead. Finally Eric let me know it was expected one day, and sent me a running commentary via text messages updating me as it approached New York. Finally timing, weather, and location all came together that day!

Yeah, hopefully the timing, weather, and lighting all line up for me this year with that bird. I've set myself an alert on Planefinder, so I can at least be a little more on top of it. Hopefully the day I do get the alert, it won't be a day that I carpooled to work or left my camera at home.

I think at this point, I'll be happy getting her on a cloudy miserable day.....and let's face it, if I get it at JFK, those will probably be the conditions, since we all know I don't seem to bring the best spotting weather with me when I drive down from CT.

That was ONA, I saw that live at JFK from the tower (visiting with Aviation Explorers group in the 70's), also remember the Modern Air CV990s?
