Just saw on Fox Obama is headed here to give a speech about Cronkite or something. Assume he is headed to JFK. He has hasn't boarded so you may have some to get out there if the wx cooperates.

Edit he just boarded.

I saw AF One parked next to the triple hangars, a C-17 parked near HGR7, and a Sea Knight departing from near the VC-25.

do the VH-3s get folded up and flown back to ADW on a C-5? i think it would be faster to ferry them down there...

I think the C-5(17?) is for the motorcade vehicles.

i know that, but a VH-3 won't fit inside a C-17. how do they move those is my question.

VH-3s are ferried from Quantico to New York (or anyplace else within a short radius). If they need to fly VH-3s somewhere in CONUS, they pull a C-5 for the job. Overseas trips usually use both -3s and -60s. Does a -60 fit in a C-17?

Glad to see 04-4133 was the C-17 in on Sunday, so I didn't miss anything there.

Thanks, everyone!

I don't really have any "secrets" -- just went to the Remsen St. end of the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and snapped away. I have more pix on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/vidiot/sets/72157622206027457/detail). The N414PD shot is full-size here (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2546/3904507141_05898956c7_o.jpg).

Yup I was just about to say that. I did that YEARS ago with my video camera when Bush (Sr?) came in on a Saturday. I was
actually able to get on to one of the piers and shot away. They used CH-53s as support that day. Always had the feeling I was
being eyeballed from somewhere.

Usually, but having a MD-10 /A300 movement during the day isn't unheard of either...

I don't understand why they'd get upset....there are two taxiways there. I'm sure aircraft would be able to pass through still.

I thought they usually park her on one taxiway entrance and have the support team on another..?

PhilDernerJr

When I saw it, taxiway CB was occupied with AF1 and limo with the limo and other vehicles between CB and Hangar 3. It looked like CA was completely open.

The support aircraft was parked closer to Hangar 7, buildings away.

I was at Firestone, listening to the scanner, and heard them get handed off to tower. Next thing I hear is "Cleared to land 31 Right" and I breathed a big sigh of relief!

President Obama back in town Monday and will be doing the Letterman show. Not sure when he is arriving but I gather someone here will gives us the info. :O)
BTW with all the heads of state coming in to town next week AND the heightened security due to what seems to be a legit terror threat Manhattan will be a mess with lockdowns and frozen zones.

With that NOTAM, all NYC heliport bound traffic will need to be screened at FRG (from the east) or LDJ (from the west). Expect to see a lot of copter & seaplane activity at FRG this week. All screening will be done at the main terminal.
