I am heading off for KEWR in a few minutes. My primary spot will be the usual IKEA parking lot on the official spotting map, but I may head a bit north to the adjacent lot. I will be a tall male wearing a yellow shirt and will have a tripod. Next to me will be a large van with the NYCAviation logo plastered on the side.

OK, I was just kidding about the van. But I will be there. If anyone has a spare frequency scanner (108MHz+) please reply.

Aha, but I was only on IKEA property. However, I managed to get inside the airport perimeter along the nice service road, but even closer to the 04s is some sort of parking lot that seems to be for employees. I ran out of time, so sadly I could not locate the entrance before it got dark.

Your posts are just great...nothing like promoting trespassing. You appear to be new to spotting, I'd suggest you take some time to learn some etiquette and where you belong and don't belong in terms of spotting...an employee parking lot is not a place you belong.

After taking a look at it with Live Maps it seems to me that it's just a regular parking lot. You can see taxis, buses, and even people with luggage in the aerial bird's eye view:

That parking lot is an employee parking lot.

I would recommend sticking to the suggested location at http://nycaviation.com/spotting-guides/ewr/ until you learn the lay of the land a little better.

Good luck!

you won't be able to get into that lot without a card. thats an employee lot. those cars just happen to be yellow and those are employee buses.

source: i used to park in that lot.

Will you be leaving Curious George home for the day?

I should have brought my monkey. Anyhow, I have indeed read the grounded thread and am not deterred.

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT DO THAT!

I think my story was famous enough

But seriously, I've already tried Ikea parking lots similar to that, and it really is worse than standing in the long - term parking lot, because them boys at ikea will
really just give you a hassle because they really have nothing else to do, I'm telling you from first hand experience as a young dude, DONT DO IT!

it's not only the IKEA at EWR that doesn't want you in the parking lot. i've stopped by the one in brooklyn and wasn't allowed to take pictures of the cranes that border the property. they make me leave the parking lot and go into the small park on the waterfront. and i was only using my phone. i guess IKEA corporate has thier rules too...

Isn't that at the other end of the same parking lot as IKEA? It's going to be the same security people, contacting Elizabeth PD...

The Elizabeth PD, who is almost always in the lot, actually tends to park in the Toys R' Us lot.
