Some years ago, Popular Science made a photo about the future of aviation, and it actually ended up on Snopes (http://www.snopes.com/photos/airplane/boeing797.asp)

Look familiar?

The photo is actually an edit from a Bayswater photo taken by Art Brett. Now, you can purchase posters of this shot.

I came across it again and thought it was cool enough to share.

i still think the BWB designs are cool-looking. maybe the future of air freight and air-to-air tanking...

They're cool looking from the outside, but if you think today's 8 or 9-across cabins are uncomfortable, imagine sitting in a row of 30 seats. :)

Sure they'd work for cargo ops, but I can't imagine Boeing or Airbus investing that kind of R&D into a freighter-only design.

yea, that would suck!

me i think it would be a worth-while investment. even though freight isn't as glamourous as pax flying it's still a significant chunk of the market. sure that most freighters aren't new-builds, but also look at the amount of A380s flying. it'll never be built in the numbers that 737s and A320s have been.
