Mel and I had the chance to stop at Albany airport late this afternoon and explore using the Albany Spotting Guide (http://nycaviation.com/spotting-guides/alb/).

First we checked out Spot D, the Terminal Observation Deck, which really does give you an excellent spot to see ramp operations of multiple fingers. It is enclosed but the glass is clean and untinted.

We then went to the cell phone lot (Spot C), which is also very good. You can park right there and hang out. The BEST part of it all was this sign posted at this location:

Aircraft movements are not busy here, but if you plan it out and see what's coming when, the airport is gorgeous and offers great vantage points throguh in a very friendly environment. Big thanks to Daniel Evans for contributing on the guide!!

Unfortunately we didn't get to take any aviation shots, as we were limited on time but could not miss the chance as we were passing by. It is definitely a place I will plan some spotting at the next time I cruise through the area.

Look forward to seeing more Phil. Interesting sign.

I had stopped by their once years ago after checking out the Albany Medflight facility. The reason the two helos are on the
poster is that the NY State PD has their main hangar at one end of the airport and the NY Air guard also has a facility there.
Nice shot.

I'm glad that you got to stop by. It was nice of them to put up those plane spotter's guide boards when they constructed the new terminal. The funny thing is that there are no WN jets on the signs - and they are now the #1 ranked airline at ALB in terms of passengers carried. The signs were made before Southwest came to ALB ;-)

Next time be sure to stop at Spot A - my favorite :-)

If anyone is interested, here is a shot of what the observation deck looks like (Spot D)

I've had a fascination with ALB for a long time, and I was so excited to get to stop by for a bit.

Again, thakns for the contributions and pointers, Dan. I'll let you know next time I head that way.
