8,000 ft x 150 ft + crosswind = not an ideal A380 landing

That far from the runwya and still seeing the far side of the aircraft. Wow.

Holy crap NO FLARE!
Flare - who needs flare - when you can do a good "all wheels at once" landing with full right rudder!

Flare? He dropped like a stone. A Wisconsin shooter I know Bruce Leibowitz touched off a storm on anet by saying it was a crappy landing and they should inspect the fuselage. His post didn't last long but he wasn't far off. I love the aircraft sitting on the infield there. Was that an old Beech? I love those things.

I guess Capt. Lutz needed more flare.

He planted that pretty good, with a ton of crab angle (and almost looked like he was having trouble keeping it on the runway as he tried to straighten it out). I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't check the gear struts after that, I don't know what their landing limits are, but he could have twisted something under there landing like that.

For the sake of discussion, here's the comment I made on YouTube about the "analysis" video:

"It sure looks like the airplane is probably going to still be usable"... Was there ever any doubt? As hard a landing as it was, 'firm' touchdowns are not taboo for short-field landings such as this - in a crosswind, no less! I? remember reading 5,500 feet as the landing distance available (until the required turnoff), which would surely put any concern over a pretty landing on the backburner for the 380 crew. Well done!
To boot, it was a great demonstration? of what the airplane is capable of. Not unfortunate at all.

Yep and sweet black and shiny! There is a great part in a Miami Vice episode where Glen Frey, Crockett and Tubbs are getting shot up and escape on a plane. Pretty sure it was a Beech 18 too. Great shot of it climbing out after they elude all the machine guns. Classic bird, show and song.
