Bored at work again, I was happy to see a LOT of red coming our way at CDW last night. I was happier that I actually had my camera for a change....does anyone have pictures of this storm? I'd love to see em...more to come....

Here's a nice collection of pics from the city... http://gothamist.com/2009/06/27/mammatu ... photos.php (http://gothamist.com/2009/06/27/mammatus_clouds_forever_more_photos.php)

I saw them over Manhattan last night but I didn't have my camera...it was really, really weird/amazing.

Yeah they were pretty wild especially when I saw purple on the radar in NJ. By the time they crossed the Sound to LI
they had eased up but the clouds still looked quite nasty and thick. We just got a lot of rain and some really cool lightning but my wife was by Roosevelt Field and thought it was the end of the world. LOL.

Our weather has been very odd this spring, I can't recall a spring where we've had so much rain and strong storms this early in the summer season. Its to the point that the sun is a unique thing when we finally get to see it.

Yeah it's been very strange. We haven't had that many strong storms, but Friday's were some of the strongest, at least on radar, that I've seen. (Of course they didn't actually do any damage in NYC, while other less colorful storms have.) Usually the red and purple cells coming from the west start to weaken once they hit the Poconos and the hills in northern NJ, but, these were still purple once they crossed the Hudson, Manhattan, and the East River and got to Queens.

Some people claim to see Michael Jackson's face in these clouds. I see a face, but it looks more like Colonel Sanders to me.
