I went once to a small city overseas ... they had a small airport inside the city ... and I used to absolutely LOVE to stand right outside of the airport and have the aircraft land basically passing so close over my head .... It was so close that everything was shaking, I used to scream without being able to hear my own voice, wasn't a scared screm, was an adrenaline scream! .... I describe it as the best feeling ever ... to have such a massive body flying right over your head ... I absolutely loved it.
Well, this was just about 10 years ago ... I never ended up going back to that small city..... but I would love to get that feeling again ...

My boyfriend promised me to take me to see the airplanes landing, but he doesn't get it ... for example, we are in the car and we see an airplane landing that is not too high in the sky .... he thinks THAT is what I am looking for and he gets all excited for me..... He never experienced the feeling I experienced so he can not know .......

Can you please tell me if there is anywhere around NY where I can get that feeling again? JFK, La Guardia, NEWARK, I would go anywhere to have this huge massive aircraft passing just meters over my head!!

Please let me know if you know of any good spots, you would make me really happy.

p.s. something like this GZJc2hyy ... PL&index=5 (GZJc2hyymmc&feature=PlayList&p=19408960121F28B0&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=5)
Probably not as close as it's not possible in NY ... but sort of .... I wanna be underneath!! :borat:

Best place for that would be Plainview Park in Queens for LGA. They are about 100 feet above your head. At JFK you really don't have to many public spots and if you get to close you'll get booted out. Brookville park off 147th street near JFK will sort of give you he same feeling but they are about 500 feet vs. 100 feet at LGA.

Farmingdale during the airshow, Last year I got my hair parted by the Blue Angels. Not a lot of traffic, but it is much more what your looking for than anyplace else, including LGA.

LGA is by far the best place for nonstop commercial aircraft, but there they are not at 50 ft directly overhead like at Farmingdale. It is also a great place to get BLASTED by a 727 when the horse charter departs....Kind of like St. Martin sandblast but removing the sand.

THREAD CREEP.....Tom, Airshow is COMING!!!!!!

My first choice is LGA when they are landing on Runway 4 and "Landing Lights Park". While nearby Plainview Park as TBird mentioned is a favorite of photographers but Landing Lights should give you the rush you are looking for. It actually stretches for several blocks, below is a map, you can zoom in out to get the feel for it.

Parking is usually easy on 25 Ave between 78th and 79th streets (I used to live their) and the even thought that part of the park is the furthest from the runway threshold (aircraft are generally at 200 agl their) that part of the park has some large rocks perfect for sitting on.

Here is one photo from the park.

Give it a try, I think you will be pleased. If you are not aware you can call LGA Atis (718) 478-6118) which a recorded message with runways in use.

Good Luck
