Can it get any worse for Mayor Bloomberg? Gearing up for a run at an unprecedented third term, he announced tax increases, service reductions and job cuts, and today he get bitten by NYC's groundhog (http://www.newsday.com/news/local/ny-lihog0203,0,4695343.story), Charles G. "Chuck" Hogg.

From Newsday.com:

"Speaking" through Mayor Michael Bloomberg, New York City's Charles G. Hogg, known to friends as Chuck, saw "absolutely no shadow."

During the ceremony, Chuck bit the mayor, drawing blood when it "nicked his hand," Bloomberg spokesman Stu Loeser said. The mayor wrapped the cut with a napkin until he could check with his doctor. He was told there was no risk of rabies. The 2-year-old animal was born and raised in captivity and has had no interaction with other animals.
Maybe he was reacting to the news of job cuts, fearing he will be an out-of-work groundhog by this time next year!
