These are great questions. I have similar questions about Floyd Bennett Field and JFK (Idlewild). I did learn that Newark Airport competed with Floyd Bennett and Newark won-out as it was closer to Manhattan.

EXCELLENT :borat: I tried to post yesterday 2 times by got sidetracked with my boys....

I would have had the 727 as the first Jetliner.... but I would have had the other two wrong. Thanks for the history! Good Stuff 8)

As for the airport I have no idea...because Glen Curis's airport, later renamed North Beach Airport, then rebuilt and later named for Fiorello H. La Guardia. So..... it really was the same land incorperated into LGA. Hmmmm

I made the questions based on facts from a book about LGA that I was reading. I can't find it online so I can't show it to you folks. Maybe I'll take pics of it soon. Great book.
