Had a chance to visit Nissiquogue State Park this Sunday and grabbed some shots of the old psych center at Kings Park. Kinda of an eerie place if you know it's history. Your thoughts???

Correct people are not allowed in the buildings...but when there is a hole in the window that your camera lens fits in, that's fair game. I'll get more info on the place and post later.

I knew a guy who worked there. If you brought the joint up in conversation, he'd just clam up and leave. I personally have been there once and I got such a bad vibe from the place.

From Wikipedia...

...Post-World War II, Kings Park and the other Long Island asylums would see their patient populations soar. In 1954, the patient census at Kings Park topped 9,300, but would begin a steady decline afterwards. By the time Kings Park reached its peak patient population, the old "rest and relaxation" philosophy surrounding farming gave way to pre-frontal lobotomies and electro-shock therapy, but those methods would quickly become ancient in 1955, following the introduction of Thorazine, the first widely used drug in the treatment of mental illness. ....

even thou its not recommended, just make sure you have a super bright flashlight in those buildings, the basement can be pretty dark with just the light off your cell!

A couple a nights ago I watched for around the 20th the time the class film, The Shinning. This place which I have seen numerous times from the distance reminds me a lot of the fictious Overlook Hotel from the film. Interesting shots guys.

Good Ole KPPC. I've been a KP resident for over 20 years. Nice shots, it's been a few ...weeks since I've ventured on the grounds. If you ever need a guide for a more.. detailed visit, get in touch.
