Nov. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China Ltd., the maker of the country's first regional jet, said it had won an order for 25 ARJ21 planes from General Electric Co.'s leasing unit, its first overseas deal.

The contract will be signed tomorrow at the Zhuhai air show, Zhang Qingwei, the planemaker's chairman, said today in the southern Chinese city. Calls to GE Commercial Aviation Services's office in Hong Kong went unanswered.

The order will raise the total backlog for the 70-seater ARJ21 to 208, helping China in its bid to develop a domestic aerospace industry able to compete with Boeing Co. and Airbus SAS. The deal may also help GE win contracts in the country, said Jim Eckes, managing director of industry adviser Indoswiss Aviation.
