Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of the PSA flight 182 accident, which brought along perhaps the most sobering photograph ever in commercial aviation.

Not to go off topic, but this was then followed by American flight 191. Another horrific image.

Having flown PSA twice (MD80 and BAE-146) I experianced first hand the pride this employee group had in their airline. Having worked at two smaller airlines in my career similar to the size of PSA in 1978 and literally knowing almost everybody in the company the thought of loosing 38 of your own employees in a single accident is unthinkable. May they and all the other victims that day rest in peace. Here is tribute video I found made just last year.

Very sobering reminders that nothing in life should be taken for granted.

I found two more very interesting links from a San Diego TV stations website. The first is a current interview with the actual photographer who took those two amazing shots. At the right of the page are many other links to stories about the crash. Also at the top right of the page is his other photo, a little less dramatic than the one at the top of this thread but chilling never the less.

Here is the most interesting IMO of the links, the station invited anyone with memories of that day 30 years ago to share their recollections. If you have never actually witnessed a crash in person (unfortunatly I have, US 405 the F28 at LGA) Then it makes for some very sad but very interested reading, please take a look.
