Dutch Spotter

Hi there,
I’m following this site since a few months now. From 19th until 24th October I‘ll be visiting New York (and USA) for the very first time. Our main goal is something of NYC, but I also want to go out for 1 day to do some spotting at JFK. Maybe these questions are already asked, but I checked out de spotting points on the maps. But are they reachable with public transport (or do you recommend a taxi?). I’ll be staying in a hotel in Manhattan (near Broadway). And what is the most interesting day (not for European heavies, but for local Americans, South Americans or Middle-East airliners). I was thinking to aim for the 22nd of 23rd depending on the weather.
Other tips or info is very welcome. Many thanks in advance and I hope the meet some of you.
