Georgians say they have proof of Bigfoot
(CNN) -- A policeman and a former corrections officer say that on Friday, they will unveil evidence of what they claim is their biggest capture ever: the body of Bigfoot.

Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, a pair of Bigfoot-hunting hobbyists from north Georgia, say they found the creature's body in a wooded area and spotted several similar creatures that were still alive.

The carcass of the furry half-man, half-ape is 7 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs more than 500 pounds, they say. However, the two are not disclosing the exact location of their discovery in order to protect the remaining creatures.

Nice story. It's be cool if it were to turn out to be true. Nothing like seeing skeptical scientists and others with egg on their face.... but I believe these guys have been caught in a hoax previously.

I, too, don't put much credence into this. But I'll pay attention nonetheless.

They have a website is http://www.searchingforbigfoot.com/ announcing the find, and state "Searching for Bigfoot, Inc. has exclusive rights to all publishing rights, photo rights, television and film rights, production and distribution rights and other commercial opportunities related to the discovery and findings regarding this body and these creatures."

They also run another site, http://www.bigfoottracker.com/ where they offer Bigfoot expeditions, starting at $500 for a 4 day trip to the woods. Sounds like this is way to drum up some more business.

He's curled up. But if they were searching for them, you'd think they would be prepared.

Who said they weren't prepared? Also, though they might have been looking for him, I don't think they looking to HUNT for him or find a body.

Sounds like someone is trying to copy the recents antics of the Montauk Monster with this story. I don't buy either story.

I learned that it's not a cooler, but a big meat freezer that it's kept in.

Bigfoot failed his DNA test. One sample was determined to be from a human, and the other they are 96% sure is possum! The Bigfoot hunter says they might have "contaminated" the samples and he is going to proceed with an autopsy on the creature.

and he is going to proceed with an autopsy

haha.. yeah, an "alien autopsy". Remember that one. One of my favorites...not convincingly debunked, but plenty of rumours which Hollywood affiliated sfx guy(s) did it...

ATLANTA (AP) - Turns out Bigfoot was just a rubber suit. Two researchers on a quest to prove the existence of Bigfoot say that the carcass encased in a block of ice - handed over to them for an undisclosed sum by two men who claimed to have found it - was slowly thawed out, and discovered to be a rubber gorilla outfit.

The revelation comes just days after a much ballyhooed news conference was held in California to proclaim that the remains of the creature were found in the North Georgia mountains was the legendary man-ape.

Steve Kulls, executive director of squatchdetective.com and host of Squatchdetective Radio, says in a posting on a Web site run by Bigfoot researcher Tom Biscardi that as the "evidence" was thawed, the claim began to unravel as a giant hoax.

First, the hair sample was burned and "melted into a ball uncharacteristic of hair," Kulls said in the posting.
