God god...how the hell do you decide which configuration to use? I guess though he must know since he's a pro. Lots of nice Canon glass on that table. Very impressive.

I wonder what presents the need for so many teleconverters?

I would imagine it has something to do with his collection of long primes...

If you go through the gallery, the captions are interesting. If you wanted to know what he had

"Caption: 7/30/08 - I will be shooting Canon two EOS 1Ds MKIIIs, Three Canon EOS1D MKIIIs, and a 5D - I will mix the 1Ds and 1D Cameras back and forth between my shooting camera and high-res remote cameras - depending on the sport and how many frames per second you need (the high resolution body (1Ds) is slightly slower. I make sure to enter all custom functions BEFORE I leave... waiting until you get there is a big mistake. I'm also bringing more than 100 GB of Lexar high speed UDMA cards to feed these monster (close to 20 CF cards) as I'll be shooting everything in RAW - withouth exception. Photo ©Vincent Laforet"

His poor grammar gradually annoyed me more and more.

Well of course - with all that gear, he didn't leave any room to pack his underwear

Here's his blog with some of his photos from the Olympics so far. Great photos, and some interesting writing as well.

This one post of his is EXTREMELY interesting, and I think that we, as aviation photographers, can learn a lot about it in terms of how a similar mindset can be applied to what we do. Really fascinating piece.

That's really good, Phil, glad you posted it. In terms of the unique shots aspect of that piece, replace "sports" with "aviation" and that's us. Of course not many of us are trying to make a living doing it, nor do we have an Aston Martin's worth of equipment to accomplish that.

That's my next question...how did he get all that stuff over there? How do you insure that? I'll have to read more of his stuff.

Exactly, Matt. There are so many of us who shoot, but there are also so many different reasons and motivations, and that affects our shooting styles. If we upload to a site, we might conform to one of the site's standards. Maybe we hope to get published in a certain magazine, or hope to get a lot of hits on those photo database sites, or hope to get professional sales, maybe we shoot just to document, etc.

Wow thats a lot of camera gear.

Exactly 5 years while chasing Concorde I wish i had those white lenses for the EOS 3.

Here in London when we get 2012 games I hope 35mm film will still be around then i'd use the Canon EOS 3 with my normal lenses, but i'd make sure i had plenty of ASA200 or ASA400 film.
