The Sun is reporting a Qatari sheikh transported his Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 from his home country to London in the belly of a Qatar Airways jet this past Friday–for an oil change. It was back at his home by Monday. Estimated cost: £20,000 ($40,000) for the freight, plus the £3,552 ($7,000) a Lamborghini tune-up goes for at a London dealership.

With a car like that, you don't just pop in to JiffyLube for an oil change - you need to go to the dealer for authorized service.

And it was transported like that? I've seen what I believe to be a Lamborghini come off a LH flight at Dulles, and it was completely covered in plastic wrap and palletized.

It's palletized, you can see the straps through the tire rims. As for covering it in plastic? That could have been his choice not to do it to avoid any scratches that could be incurred.

Why settle for a measly dealership in that case? He should have shipped it back to the factory! :borat:

Qatar flies DOH-MXP on an A330, the factory is a couple hours from Milan.

Well, hasn´t UAE an authorized dealership or does he have a bad experience with these guys?

I would be extremely scared putting that thing in if I was on the K Loader. I've put many IAE/CFM engines on flights but not a lambo that isn't even protected!

Nevermind a lambo that's not protected that belongs to a guy who could have you hanged!

That would be the reason of me being scared. I could care less about scratching some random guys lambo. But since it's him then no thanks!
