The last half of my Euro trip this summer was spent in England, mostly in London. The weather in England is very iffy in the summer time and there was often cloudy conditions which made spotting a little difficult. However I ended up spotting 4 times at LHR and enjoyed every minute of it. The airport is great for spotting and all the spots are easily accessible by foot and public transportation. Spotting is a popular thing in England and at one point I was spotting in a field with 80 (!!) other spotters on a Sunday afternoon.

I've picked 56 photos to share which cover some of the more exotic airliners. This is part 1 which will have 28 pictures and Part 2 will also have 28 pictures.

Enjoy!

good catch on the Biman DC-10, Air India(Flyglobespan) B763, and Iran Air B747-100.. As for the Kuwait Airbus A300, is that a regular visitor to LHR?

Thanks, guys. It really was an amazing experience to photograph all the variety. LHR is highly recommended for spotting. However a lens between 18mm and 100mm is strongly advised for most spots believe it or not. I had a lot of trouble shooting with my 80-400mm and ended up using my dads 18-200mm most of the time.

As for spots, I used 4 mains spots which were all easily accessible from the Hatton Cross tube station. For 27L there is the bridge next to the tube station which was decent for arrival shots after 6pm and there is also a field next to the approach which is an easy 6 minute walk from the station. For 27R I used a spot located off of the perimeter road and located next to the BA hangars, a 10 minute walk from Hatton Cross. If anyone would like more details feel free to ask.

I'm about to post Part II.

Nope, usually LHR gets their 772s.

Great series Gordon!

Nice images from EGLL/LHR.

Visitors: Kuwait Airways: usually B 772/A343 sometimes A 306.
Biman: Airbus A 310.
Iran Air: 3 flights per week B 741/2 other flight will be A 306 or 747SP.

Positions:

You can drive from the "tube" station "Hatton Cross" to RWY 27R with the small buses, the line is 285. The bus is free.

Sorry for my bad English
