Yeah!

This isn't very useful for spotting purposes, but it is very rare for them to use this one.

On the useful front, 4/22 is closed, so they're also departing off 13.

sorry guys, we'd usually post info regarding runway closures but since most of the LGA NYCA crew is on vacation we kinda let it slip our minds...

Bout time I got some time off!

Pretty sure TEB went down the tubes though as the marker for 13 is right over TEB......Or was it the ILS13L at JFK...its one of the two. Either way 13 action rocks at LGA!

I had flown the river visual to 13 a few times in the cabin of airliners, but Saturday night experienced this thrill for the first time at night. Landed around 2330 Sat night on US 1496 from CLT (an A-321) after a nice ride up from CLT. When I watch this approach from work (US Ramp Tower) go-arounds are common and late touchowns even more. As we turned base I couldn't believe how high we seemed but was probably the standard 2500 feet. But our experienced LGA based crew made the steep decent seem routine, was on the ground before the intersection of 4-22 (1000 feet) and after a smooth touchdown our full A-321 turned off at High Speed Lima, less than 5000 feet from the start of the runway. The whole thing was a rush and a GREAT end to 5 GREAT flights on US to/from DFW and AI 2008.

Um...you actually can spot ILS13 arrivals...go up to Morningside Park in Manhattan...

You can certainly spot them, they are a bit high for good shooting, though, no?

I've never tried it, as every time I've ever seen that approach in use the weather is awful. But River Visual arrivals are shootable if you have a 400mm lens, and ILS13s should be at least 500 feet lower at that point in the approach.

Today Saturday 7-19 Rwy 4-22 was closed all day and due to a wind shift around 1600 LGA has been up and down 13 ever since.

What are the chances, last Sat night I flew the river visual and tonight covering the closing shift will watch the same flight, a US 321 fly the same approach and view from our Ramp Tower.
