The executives, appearing under oath, cited tight global supplies with scant spare production capacity and the fact that large areas of land and offshore waters remain offlimits to drilling. And they said they're worried Congress was talking of requiring the five companies to pay more taxes.

The only thing I'll give the Oil companies is they are 100% right when it comes to off shore drilling, Anwar, and the oil in the Dakotas that remain untapped. Our Gov't is pandering to environmentalists who do not want the drilling to take place...HOWEVER in the Gulf only 20 miles south of where we can't drill..Mexico is drilling and I'm sure our safety standards are much higher then Mexico's but Al Gore's firends won't let us drill.

Offshore drilling or not, nothing they said defends their highway robbery.

I'm not defending them...the point I'm making is we need to use what we have here. Any amount we pump from the ground is less we need from the Middle East. We also need to start using more coal. Clean Coal technology is much cleaner then oil and we have more coal in this country then we would ever use. Again.....it comes down to the environmentalists who are stopping it.

Drilling in ANWR alone would net us an additional 1 million to 2 million barrels of oil per day, with that much oil, we can tell Chavez what he can do with himself.

Where are imported oil comes from:

CANADA
SAUDI ARABIA
MEXICO
NIGERIA
VENEZUELA
IRAQ
ANGOLA
ALGERIA
ECUADOR
BRAZIL
KUWAIT
COLOMBIA
RUSSIA
CHAD
UNITED KINGDOM

I can just picture cars running off coal

We do use coal to produce electricity I think?
