Hi all,
We're having some problems with our 5-year old Sony VAIO laptop. It froze up on me this morning while I was working offline (writing a word document). When we tried to start it multiple times--we're prompted that Windows failed to start up normally and asks us if we want to start normally, under last known condition or as one of the safe modes. When we try the former two, the windows XP logo comes up and the bars go across the rectangle as they normally do but then it freezes and we have to switch off, and this happens time after time. When I try to start in safe mode a whole list of drivers (?) appear before the last one (....Drivers\IPVNMon.sys) appears and the system locks up. I have no idea what's going on. I tried searching for a solution but could not find any.
Has anyone had this problem before, and is there any way to fix it without using the system recovery CD that came with the VAIO? If we do use the recovery CD, will it erase any Word or Excel files on the computer?
I tried selecting safe mode with prompts but I have no idea what to type. Any insight is appreciated :borat:
