Was coming home from Manhattan on the GCP this afternoon around 3:40 and saw a red crane sitting
by the parking garage. The boom was kinda high. What was this for? At the same time a dark colored Bell 430 (probably HeliFlites) cruised over the Tower cab. He didnt seem that high. Maybe 1000 or below. On Monday around 5PM from the LIRR saw a military UH-60 cruising by LGA before
heading (I guess) EB. Around same altitude.

The crane is being used on construction of the new control tower, which is right next to the garage.

Thanks. What's the ETA on that?

Some time in 2010. Here's the released design:

Hopefully I'll be able to visit the current LGA tower again before they take it down.

While the current tower is a classic design, at least they look to be replacing it with something with a little style, not just another generic tower.

The new LGA tower looks nice. Wouldn't mind working there :)

Thanks. Now that I think of it I had read about a new Tower going up but had forgot about it and I havent
been by LGA in awhile. Looks pretty cool. Also looks to be higher than the current Tower.

With PANYNJ and FAA involved it could be any century now. Work has slowed considerably recently.
