I realized that my Shots were not coming out as sharp as they should be. It was very frustrating. I thought there was something wrong with the way I shoot or Post processing, Finally decided to send my Lens into Canon.

It is going to cost $350 to repair and they don't tell you what is wrong with it untill after the repair.

Hopefully I get it back before my trip to Singapore.

Did they say exactly what was wrong with it? Broken autofocus? Condensation?

The Canon Rep on the phone could not tell me what was wrong with it. At this point I just need it repaired as soon as possible so I have it for my trip.

They didn't tell what's wrong with it? Hmmmm that's BS to me. That's like bringing in a car and the shop telling you its going to cost you such and such but won't say what's wrong with the car.

Well whatever is wrong with it they doubled the estimate within about 5 minutes. First email I got was an estimated repair for about $175, then received another email saying that the new Estimate was $350. All it says is "Parts Required".

The woman on the phone was not very helpful, but was happy to take my credit card info.

Excellent. Will you learn at any point what was wrong with it? Surprised they kept you in the dark.

Still don't know what was wrong with it. All I got was Status: Completed. Shipped.

I would be really annoyed that in this day and age a massive high-tech company like Canon can't give a simple explanation of the problem when they repair an expensive piece of equipment. I guess they might include it in the box, though...

Canon is apparently notorious for this sort of behavior...

They hopefully put a work order slip in the box. If they don't, you should complain.

Ok. Here is the repair.

Replaced Lens Accessory Image stabilizer & collar. Adjusted Focus, Cleaned Factory.

Also had a special note. *Better pictures when used without Filter.

They mean the UV filter? I think it's a pretty important way to protect a lens. They just want us to send it to them when it gets scratched up.
