What a finish! BIG BLUE! Got to give it to the defense, they never let Brady get into a groove. Eli stepped up and watch a catch by Tyree, he should get game ball for that he saved the game!

Surprised Eli got MVP, you have to give it to Tyree, I mean that catch was insane! If he drops it the Giants lose right there.
Eddie.
2008-02-03, 11:34 PM
I would have given the MVP to Strahan.
Anyways, the important thing is....the 72' Fins Legacy continues to live. No perfect season for the Pats
Thank you very much NYG. :borat:

Brilliant game!!! That last pass to Burress with a half-minute was classic, though I would have liked to have seen Belichick's 1-second play...

Great game played by the Giants. I have to give it to them, while I was cheering for them the entire time, I didn't think they had it in them.
Congrats, good job Eli and the rest

I don't see the big deal at all. They won...oh joy...Great that it makes some people happy that's wonderful. For me and lots of others I'd rather watch cement harden.

Close but I wouldn't go that far... The Jets knocking off the Colts in Superbowl III is very hard to top

Amazing! I watched it, and I still have a hard time believing it! A great game by the defense, some big plays on offense, and Eli Manning MVP! Big plays, and a last minute drive to win the game - it doesn't get any better than that!
GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!!!!!

This is great!!! With Boston winning the World Series this year, I am so glad the Giants denied them the Super Bowl as well....
And I happened to win twice in the office football pool.

Manning getting out of that crowd and the insane catch by Tyree has to be the most amazing play I've ever seen, up there with Endy Chavez' NLCS catch last year, except that the Giants actually won. I've never really liked Manning, but as a guy on the FAN just said, he out-Brady'd Brady in the 4th quarter tonight.
Amazing! So proud to be a fan of the underdog! What a game, what a season! An NFC Wild Card beat one of the best teams ever!!! :borat:

Now that I am capible of speaking as I sit here in the tower tonight was the date of what was probably the most amazing, exciting and meaningful games for me that I have watched in my life. This being spoken by a Jets fan.

That one was kind of misleading, Jimmy the Greek who set that line got it very wrong. The colts IMO weren't that strong.

Def a nice night for NY sports. A well played game and good result! Don't really see Eli getting the MVP but did you see that hybrid Escalade! It's so ironic!

Was a great game indeed, watched it at a local superbowl party here with our local football team. Brady didn't have a chance against the Giants defense.

I am just blown away by all aspects. This has to go down as one of, if not the, biggest upset in all of sports history. Beating the undeafeated team in a one-game final makes it as shocking as possible.
The Giants made quite a few dumb mistakes, but still came out on top. With the exception of one fumble by Brady, the Pats were near flawless. No matter how much people talked garbage, no matter how hard the challenge they faced on the field, they fought and fought and fought.
I don't know who said it, but in the clips I can't stop watching online, one Giant said along the lines of "Everything we do....it's just a game. It's just a game. The reality is that it means very little, but to the guy who works all day to struggle to put food on the table for mother and baby, and to the soldiers to put it all on the line overseas....we hope we were able to put a smile on your face for a few hours and distract you from all that is life."
True class. TRUE BLUE WOOOOO!!!!!

That was the first time this season anyone has managed to put any real pressure on Brady...

I don't know who said it, but in the clips I can't stop watching online,
Phil, I can't stop watching either. Seeing scenes of Times Square, people running into the streets as if WWII was just won again. It's beautiful!
As some of you know, I am not a HUGE fan of most sports seasons. I just don't have the time or desire to follow any season. But I enjoy a well fought game.
That said, going into this game, I was wanting the Giants to win firstly b/c I am a fan, 2nd they were underdogs and lastly, I was really hoping the Manning family would be stricken with pride. That is really something special.
Shosh and I watched from kickoff. Usually I can sense a blowout but early in that first quarter, I knew I was going to watch this game through simply because you could tell it was going to be a great, close game.
I was praying with the Mannings and got tearry eyed with Burress. It was just beautiful.
Gotta love that one players comments to the press, when asked about the pass to Tyrell, he says, "WE practiced that all week!" like it was no big thang. ROFLMAO!
Brilliant game!!! That last pass to Burress with a half-minute was classic, though I would have liked to have seen Belichick's 1-second play...
Man, did you see that clip, Brian, from the pregame warmup, Eli passing to the top corner of the endzone? Just like that, he executed and our house roared! WOW.
Bri, I am glad you brought up Belichick. I don't care for the guy. Again, I'm don't watch 16 games a year but BUt I didn't get the whole 0:01 second BS at the end there. Was he really being a huge sore loser?
Can someone enlighten me?
It just seemed that he did not want to concede the loss.
WTF was wrong with him?! Am I wrong to think it?

I can't blame his reaction. It's so shocking that his team would lose the way that they did that I can understnad him just wandering off like that. He did walkover and congratulate the Giants team before walking off, though.

The one-second thing wasn't a Patriots decision; I think it was up to the NFL. And it wasn't a Pats play...the Giants had posession on downs. Belichick walked onto the field after the last real play.

Bellicheck is shocked. He got cocky. I think that this is the punch in the face for New England that might topple them in the end. Him and Brady were blown away at the news confrences and could barely look at a camera. They knew they were going to win it in their heads but we here in NY prooved it once again that NY is the city of sports.

All I can say is that the hard-working, get no respect, NY Giants defense, stood up and made NY proud! They didn't give in to the hype of 19-0, they wanted to prove that DEFENSE wins championships, and this one certainly did.
I will give credit where credit is due, Eli has matured immensely over the last 5 weeks, and although I thought Justin Tuck should have been the MVP, I gotta give Eli the credit he deserves. To drive twice in the fourth quarter against the "Team of Destiny" just goes to show you how much he has grown up.

I agree. His career has been filled with inconsistency, and these guys really woke up after Week 3 and busted their butts. Eli is a little slow, I think. But he pulled it off. No one can say it was luck.

Very happy Giants fan here ! I spent this weekend in MA., so last nights win was all the more sweeter for me. I think NE felt it was destined to win, and just did not take NYG seriously. People in MA. were really down today, I could only describe it as funeral like.

I think this whole thing is being blown out of proportion. The clock had originally run out and I don't think he knew they put a second on thc clock. With the noise and the fact he has no personality whatsoever I don't his actions were meant as disrespect.
Anyone who goes to the parade enjoy!

I think Eli still has a lot of unfulfilled potential. He's been reminding Denver fans just a bit of John Elway ever since the Giants beat us by one point on a fourth-quarter touchdown drive a couple of years ago. And he has an excellent surrounding cast, for the most part.
I think the most stunning turnaround was Tom Coughlin. At the beginning of the season, I was saying that the Giants weren't going to be successful until they overhauled their coaching staff...I can't say I'm upset to be proven wrong...

I'm just proud of myself only being 45 minutes late to work today!!! LOL!!! Just simply amazing and as a
lifelong Giants fan this sure wipes away many a bad memory since the last Super Bowl victory.
And the parade should be amazing. Is this the first time we've had a Canyon of Heroes parade for a Super
Bowl winner (Jets?). I know after one of the Giant bowl victories then Mayor Ed Koch said no way since the team was from Jersey. Big thumbs up for Bloomberg for planning this parade!!!!
YEAH Big BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I was not sure. My impression was that he was running onto the field and trying to get everyone off so that they could play the final :01. I guess I misinterpreted.
And Mike, yep ,that is a GREAT clip. I don;'t care whether you enjoy football or not. AS far as any sports go, that was a great catch.
