Just trolling around the 'net tonight. Found this pretty cool vid. Note all the TWA at JFK and the DC-10 at LGA!

Wow, a super awesome video!
It really is something to see a 747 at Terminal 6 when we have become so used to seeing A320s there.

It looks like every single gate at JFK is full and in use. Didn't even look normal...you'd think that some terminals would be kinda empty. I hope they didn't all leave at the same time!

Boy did anyone notice how tight those TWA planes were parked at T5 and T6!?

Wow, nice, I'm sure Andy is gonna go nuts about that view of T5 and T6.
And whose 747 is it at the Worldport?

HOLY COW THAT VIDEO IS AWESOME!!!!
Dima was right, I went nuts when I saw that video. Can you believe they parked a 747 at T6?!? All the great footage of T5 and the old IAB really brought back memories, I can't even count how many times I went through those facilities as a kid. It's funny though, LGA looks exactly the same as it did almost 20 years ago, but JFK has changed quite a bit.
As for who the 747's are at T3, I would be willing to bet those are Pan Am. TWA had mostly vacated T6 by the mid-90's if memory serves correct, meaning that this video would have to be from the early 90's, and Pan Am was still operating in 1991. Anyone agree/disagree?
Thanks for posting flyboy, that was a truly awesome flashback!

I was fortunate to see and experience the nightly push of 747's , L-1011's DC-10's and even DC8's at JFK in the late 80's - early 90's ( hope im not showing my age too much lol )
It certainly is something I wont soon forget. I had some great shots of a Pan Am , TWA 747's even a shot of a BA Concorde on takeoff roll on 22R.I just cant find them
RJ's the only thing resembling an RJ at JFK was our F28's and the occasional the Biz-Ex BAe146
Anything else regional was definitely a turboprop

T6 was designed for heavies as National used DC-10s out of JFK. TWA took down T6 about 1996/97 when they began shifting away from Europe to the Carribean. The interesting thing about those 747s at T6 is those birds were on a domestic route. T5 was all intl and T6 was all Domestic. TWA did use the 747 in the 90s to San Juan and even to the west coast. While the setup is impressive to see it was a freaking nightmare from a passenger point of view. All of TWA's connecting passengers in either direction would have to clear security again to make their connection. At the time the checkpoints in T5 were smack right up aginst the front doors.

Tommy-
Are you sure all of the gate at T5 were used for international? As I recall towards the late 90's (and this could be as a result of TWA giving up T6), gates 30 and higher in the right-hand pier were domestic only, while gates 1-29 in the left-hand pier were international, but could handle domestic arrivals & departures. From what you're saying, it sounds like the right-hand with gates 30 and higher were also used for international arrivals, but I don't recall that pier having the same setup as the other one with the segregated hallway that led to the jetways where they could separate international arriving pax from domestic pax. In fact, that hallway to me is what distinguished gates 1-29 from the other ones in the other pier. Let me know if what I'm saying doesn't make sense and I'll try to explain differently...
As far as 747's going domestic, I flew TWA 741/2's as well as the 762/752 from JFK-SJU-JFK on TWA flight# 12/21 & 36/9. I also flew a Liberty travel chartered TWA 741 from JFK-MBJ-JFK in late 1997 (shortly before they were retired). Now if I had only had a camera back then, I would have quite the rare shot of a TWA heavy in Montego Bay, Jamaica!
TWA was the best. When I was a kid, they used to give us a ton of stuff when we came onboard, especially on the 747's. They had coloring books, magazines, TWA pins with the little wings, decks of cards, and I can never remember an unfriendly crew, even when they started hitting the really rough times around 2000.
Thanks for the memories...
