After ATA, are there any North American operators of the 1011?

In the airlines, no. There are two of them I think for a Casino based out of LAS.

Yes the casino tristars that run to the far east are the last ones after ATA converts these beauties to beer cans.
What are the likely locations one can catch these Tri-stars?

In the US: DFW and various military bases.

And I believe they are still actually based at IND.

The ATA L-1011 is my favorite airline/aircraft combination. Though it will be sad to see her go, I can wave goodbye with a smile, knowing that I did get to see and explore a few of them last year.
This will be the first plane that since I became a hardcore enthusiast that I truly saw the end of. I think there are only 40 left operating in the world.

What other Tristar is there besides the Sands?

Nick.....
What on Earth are you doing publishing pictures of my dog without my permission. That's a violation of my copy-dog-right law. I think I will sue you. LOL
L-10s are certainly hard to spot here in the US. The Arrow L-10s disappeared a couple of years ago. They were always enjoyable to see and shoot in MIA. I remember seeing two of the ATA's parked in BWI doing the military charters back in the late 80's and early 90's. But it's been so long since I've seen them. I believe the last time I saw the ATA L-10s they were parked at LAX a couple of years ago. The last I saw was Thai Sky and Orient Thai at BKK in 2006. A good group of them there. Nice aircraft.

It is rather sad here in IND to go out to the airport, and looking over at the old ATA hangar, soon to be occupied by FedEx. and not see any ATA aircraft there. Was not too long ago, you would see a couple of L-1011's a few 757-200 and 757-300, and the DC-10. Sad, what used to be a great airline, is now a shell of itself
