I will be visiting New York for a couple of days and was wondering whether anyone was planning on taking some photos on the 25th? I am a newbie to the area so feel a bit lost!!

I don't have anything on the calendar, and the weather doesn't look too bad (cold but sunny, NW winds). I would be up for some spotting and would be glad to meet up with you.

"Moose135" is going to meet me and take me to JFK somewhere. As I am a complete stranger to the area, I'll be going where he goes! Maybe he can elaborate here on where we will be.

Yeah, lots of places to dump the body around JFK :wink:

Right now the forecast favors Rwy 31, if that holds, we should probably start with some Howard Beach departures in the morning. Just heard from Josh May that the Etihad A340-600 will be in, departing around 10am, and that would be a great catch. From there, probably head to Firestone for some arrivals later in the day.

Friday is an office day and Saturday I have to orchestrate my son's first birthday. But if you plan on Sunday at all, maybe????

Friday is my last day of exams, and I get out at 12:30. If I feel up for the drive, I'll try and get out that way (for the first time :)).

Just an update - I plan to pick Colin at Jamaica around 9 - 9:30 and, assuming NW winds and Rwy 31, head out to HoBe for some morning departure shots, then probably head over to Firestone for arrivals later in the day. Feel free to call my cell if you are interested in meeting up at any point.

Hi guys,

Firstly thanks to Moose for the lovely day out! The weather was fantastic on friday although it was certainly very cold. Definately not what I am used to!!


Unfortunately it was a very brief visit to New York, and saturday morning I departed on the CX841 back to Hong Kong. These trips will be fairly frequent though, and I am definately looking forward to more spotting and hopefully meeting more of you!
