...sure I am. But I'm not proud that the following folks are Americans:

I just wonder what percentage of people they asked got stuff right.

Chris, just because they're seemingly un-intelligent doesn't mean they're bad Americans. That's just closed minded and shallow. Stick a tv camera in your face and see how your performance ranks once the editing is done.

Wunala offers a good point, but I must say that the lack of knowledge of the world around us is way too common than it should be and is far below that average for the Western world.
Whether that individual video is biased or not, I am embarrassed in general by Americans' international awareness.

I'd welcome the opportunity.
Your average American probably couldn't even locate Iraq on a map.

Granted, but tell me, how does that make you a better American than them. Just because they may not have the same knowledge as you or I, it doesn't make them less proud of their country.

Ii can't speak for Chris, but I don't think it implies that those people are less proud, but implies that someone like myself, is less proud to have THEM representing my country.

Phil's right.
Kenny - I challenge you to go up to an average joe on the street and ask them a similar question as posed in the video.
I've done something similar. I carried around a world atlas and asked people to show me where Iraq is. Two people out of twenty could show me.

You know that they just took the stupid answers, there is no way that the correct answers would be funny on TV, you can't take this stuff as the "Average American"...

I have better things to do with my time than to quiz people. As far as I'm concerned, so long as you pledge alegiance to the same flag I do, you're ok. I'm CERTAIN you'll find an equal amount of seemingly clueless people in every country, and the liberal, american hating media on our soil and abroad loves to find the worst in our nation and pick it apart. It makes me sick. But, hey, at least you feel good.

Kenny those people should be totally ashamed of themselves...I agree 100% with Chris, I'm embarrassed to call them my fellow Americans. These people show a clear lack of basic world and own country affairs that EVERY average adult working American should be able to answer. These are the same people who will bitch about the government but won't get off their lazy butts to vote. Don't sit here either and blame the media...the media isn't making these people stupid our own system is doing it. Our education system everyday is turning out people like this and we need to stop it! The world is catching up to us fast and if we don't wake up to this fact every red blooded American citizen is going to suffer.

Tommy, you can't possibly expect me to believe there was no spin at all put on that clip. I agree with you on the fact that they probably do not vote (which I appreciate) and the deficiencies in our educational system but, come on. I simply will not accept that every American interviewed for that clip was actually shown. In fact, I'm kinda curious as to how many people were interviewed for that clip.
Don't sit here either and blame the media
Sorry, but I have to. Riddle me this...Why can't the media show whats good with our nation? Why not show something to improve our national morale? I'll tell you why. It's because that won't increase ratings and that might piss off people like Hanoi Jane and Rosie O'Fatass. Furthermore, another troubling thing to me is that another "proud" American went out in search of something like this to showcase people he thinks are bad Americans. What purpose could this have served other than to stir the pot while making himself feel good.

Oh brother. Another Republican smearing my patriotism. I found the video on Airwhiners, btw. I didn't SEARCH for anything.
We can debate this until forever but the fact remains that these people are, in a word, morons.

Don't play martyr after the pm you sent. Which, by the way, I had no idea of your political affiliation before you sent it.
NEXT.
Agreed.

Well I'm glad we all resolved that one.
Parties seem to have ended the conversation, and to prevent escalating the debate to a full argument, I will politely lock the thread.
